Your first post? Then welcome to the forum. However, I disagree with your comment about the referee. Alain Roland is a very fine referee and Stuart Dickenson, the TV offcial is also a fine and fair man. The call on Cueto's 'try' was very close and extremely difficult (look at the time it took him) but if he says 'no try' then so be it. Whilst I have no problem with the decision over Cueto's 'try' I have a question to ask the rest of you on this forum. I ask the question out of interest in the laws of the game and not out of any sense of injustice. Was there not a case for a penalty try? After all, the referee awarded a penalty and as a try was so nearly scored then why only give a penalty? The vital delay caused by Berger's infringement was the reason for the defender to put in a tackle on Cueto so why not award a penalty try?
you pose an interesting question but imo i don't think it would have been fair...i believe we infringed earlier on just b4 the end of the first half when SA were inches away from the line and the ref gave a warning and SA took 3 points...i think we lost fair an square and the ref made the rite decision to give a warning...however had gomersall passed to the rite instead of the left where all of the retreating SAs would have been offside then i think we would have scrored...alternatively if cueto had slid in, or josh lewsey was onthe wing then we also mite have scored; i was also thinkin we mite have gone for a lineout instead of kicking for the 3 points, but that would have been a brave and risky decision given the superb SA lineout...
