The story goes ...

NSW B were playing the Lions in Dubbo, NSW in a mid-weekly fixture during the 1989 Australian tour.
While the score may not reflect the game as such, at the time it may have been close to the final one of 39-19 to the Lions. Rory Underwood had the ball, stepped a few defenders and (as he did many a time throughout his career) hared toward the goal-line. He ran around behind the posts to plop the ball down, but as he did so he committed the cardinal sin of show-boating and bending over slowly (ever so slowly) to place the ball down.
While this was happening, NSW B No.12 had not stopped steaming in from Underwood's blind side, and just as the ball kissed the turf Rory Underwood realised what was about to happen. With a surprised and shocked look on his face he was hit square under the ribs and knocked backward in the most epic of tackles. Fisticuffs broke out and yet no-one was carded. Some might say it was a small win for Australia in the face of British Imperialism. Others, like myself, would say it was a bloody fantastic hit and should teach a lesson of why not to show off.
