Tim Payne called up

Just seen on the sky ticker that Tim Payne has been called up to the Lions squad, apparently they need cover for Tuesday's match as Andrew Sheridan is struggling with a back problem.

At least unlike Hayes he should be match fit.

Payne plays for...Wasps - where most of the coaching team come from.

I think/hope that he's been called up just to play midweek, because they want Sheridan for the bench and don't want to risk him.

Even so, why him? Match fitness can't be the reason or why would they have picked Hayes.

Ahh, conspiracy theory coming up, it's to undermine Ford's chances by playing him with an awful prop, and one who hasn't played for two months, thus allowing them not to select Ford.

Would have preferred Cian Healy/Dave Flatman but they are busy tonight, but are acclimatised to high altitude as well. I would have brought Marcus Horan, his form dqindled a bit towards the end of the season, but he had a great 6N.

I fully agree regarding Flatman, he's especially been showing just how good he is during the Churchill cup. Certainly shown more worth then bloody Payne.
