Top 14 & ProD2 Budgets

Bit of a difference too the 4.76m + the one marquee player.

always impressed by Castres' surprisingly low budget, and what they've managed to achieve the last couple of seasons.

don't you know money isn't everything BE?!

it is the only thing.

heh, jokes aside that's actually good: "money isn't everything. It is the only thing".

Here I give you a nice Roger Waters bassline for that:

"Money
Get away
You get a good job with good pay and you're okay
Money
It's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I'll buy me a football team"

take it easy, you might ruffle a few socialist feathers again :ranting:. Money isn't everything. Don't read the rest.

heh, tu sais ce que je leur dis moi les socialistes ? they can quote Jean-Paul Sartre and Marx all they want, but they sure is hell are fkng clueless when it comes to life away from the theory books...

I couldn't agree more . Look at how the government is driving the economy into a wall. They have succeeded in chasing capital away and pushing unemployment higher. And create more taxes. That's all they know. Tax.
And look at what socialist austerity has done to Spain Portugal Ireland, list goes on, ain't over yet!!

what about a rugby tax? with money rolling in Top 14 could we have ask Flanby de nous concocter a rugby tax? All that money pouring in. Sick. TAXXXXXXXXXXX

I presume that the figures you quote is the salary cap in England's premier league?

The difference between that figure and those quoted for the French teams is that the latter is the budget for the TOTAL expenditure of the French clubs to include the salaries NOT just the salaries....fed up with explaining this one!!

Not getting into that argument but would merely add that the Portugese are totally p**sed off with the French buying property on the west coast of Portugal to get their money out of France..................

I'm sure the French budgets will rise steeply in the coming years. It should be interesting to see the effect that has on world rugby.

You're sure......clearly you know things we don't.

and what effect would that be?

we're small players compared with the Russians and Chinese. I have seen Greeks in Dubai meeting with chinese businessmen with a view of offloading their properties at bargain basement price...Having said that the Portuguese should be happy foreigners are there to support their real estate.

Their big TV deals will start to push up their budgets.

IMO the effect will be a bigger gap between French clubs and the rest so more top level players going there.
