My God, Toulon looking more and more int'l...this is getting a bit ridiculous tbh.
Excited for the new season. A handful of good, well balanced squads. Will be interesting to see how Castres handle the fame now that they're the reigning champs and are officially a target.
I know there aren't many changes, but GODDAMN Clermont look so delicious on paper...just reading through that roster, hmmmmm...BBQ chicken.

Those squads look indeed very nice.
What happend to Mirco Bergamsco (still injured?) and Sionne Lauaki (Didn't pass medical tests last year)?

I think Couett-Lannes is more a 15 than a winger and he and Pieterson should be swapped. BO beat Grenoble in a far from convincing friendly on Friday and, again, am fearful that the squad is insufficient to challenge but will escape relegation just!

Blanco bleeting about Toulon's recruitment policy and how the small town of Biarritz cannot compete rudely put down by Laporte who more or less said he would not take lessons from someone who has run up deficits for the last 15 years!!! He did not go on to say that actually the catchment area runs into millions and that Blanco refuses to talk about the inevitable merger with Bayonne.......

Yoe I am too looking forward to seeing how Castres fair for the same reasons plus the impact of the death of their billionaire pharmaceutical backer this month?

I have renewed my sub and it will be fascinating season but ASM and Toulon are again the ones to beat!!

Yes, for sure...I dunno maybe we can expect a reaction from Toulouse a bit this year, I mean they've got some personnel themselves !...would be nice to see them dominate a little more.
But yeh, agreed, Castres is a new team on the map officially now, they'd been making some noise for a while, but now it's official - they're out there.

Racing have Sexton, Racing are unstoppable.

It will take more than Sexton to get Racing to the top of the table please remember this is TOP 14 and not Rabobank, Racing may have brought in the players, and 2 very good coaches which will help as they are both excellent but there are another 5/6 teams fighting for the same honours this season just to finish in the top 6 will be a class act. The National team may have their problems at this very moment, but the TOP 14 is going from strength to strength, and is by far one of the best competitions World wide.

It was a joke...

Also please stop this superiority thing it's a bit tiresome.

More Heineken Cup ***les have gone to Celtic League teams than teams any other competition over the last 10 years. Check and mate.

More H Cups ***les gone to Top 14 in the last year so that is what being selective means - stats mean nothing - so not really sure what you point is!!

Surely you are not saying Rabo is or ever has been as good a competition with as much depth as the Top 14?

Well hcup ***les won't be going to the rabo teams that often from here on , unless the erc shoe horns them like 2012, and who knows, perhaps the correct thing Is done, the countries with a proper domestic competition succeed In their wishes...

Top 14 is the blueprint for the future, English league will be next to follow....the rabo lot need to wake up fast

The Top 14 is a terrible model to follow as the main attraction for rugby is the national game. And what shoehorning exactly?

Ha ha, the fact that the most simple comment against a Celt receives an instantaneous protest

I find it even funnier that the blind refusal to accept the truth is widespread amongst the celts, not a problem with me, contine down your path...

French rugby has 30 professional clubs employing what 1200 plus players, has 30 stadiums, and most weeks will see most stadiums healthily filled...
The French clubs attracts and can afford the best players In the world...is a great spectacle and will increasingly wash it's face and some..

The rabble is such a poor competition, if a competition at all , that the punters vote with their feet, and don't turn up, no matter how cheap the tickets are priced..

The standard of many of the games is ridiculously poor..

The national unions fund the provincial clubs, but aren't those unions experiencing financial problems?

The future is not national rugby as a money spinner, it's club rugby , following the top14 model

Which is very simple, have a proper competition, preferably with very healthy 2nd tier, play competitive rugby which people will pay money to watch...not rocket science

Ireland and Scotland will find it Increasingly more difficult to reach knockout stages of the World Cup, which is again another tournament which will become increasingly important ( if they haven't already struggled to reach knockouts :)

England and France will get their way over the hcup....the rest will need to accept that and perhaps one day realise that money talks, club rugby money....

The super xv will be replicated In Europe...

The Premiership/Rabo teams cannot afford it. There may as well be no salary cap should you raise it to French levels.

The English league is light years ahead of the rabo , it will soon enough see the money required to follow top14

Sarries, saints, tigers, gloucs, bath, Exeter, worcs, quins, all have their own grounds, the next step for them is towards top14 model, those clubs pack out their stadia week in week out, the progression will be natural....just remember the money that is about to come into the game..

Sky Informing me that they have lost the aviva but bought the rabo, was like sky telling me they have signed the rights to broadcast the Angolan under12s lesbian basketball league...

................NOt for meeeee!

Why should international rugby with its once every four year jamboreee (and only the last three weeks of that being of any real interest) supercede the leagues that run every winter and are keenly fought - like the Top 14 and Premiership if not really the Rabo. I know which I prefer and have for many years now.....

Right then...

You seem to be confused at how the Rabo is held. What teams care about is the H Cup not so much the Rabo, the Rabo is used more for other things. It's not a blind refusal to accept the truth. International rugby is the current money maker in rugby. How many Rabo matches have you watched yes there are a number of poor games but there are also poor games in the Top 14 in fact the style of many teams in incredibly dull even if they have "the best players in the world" despite no Carter, McCaw, Genia, Folau, O'Driscoll, Healy, Etzebeth, Jones, Jones etc.

Also with the Irish at least people go to matches. Attendance figures aren't that bad considering how it's held and the capacity of stadiums.http://rugby.statbunker.com/competitions/HomeAttendance?comp_id=413

Why will Ireland struggle when Irish players are starting every week. The two 23's from the Rabo with 2 Irish teams had 38 IQ players with two more to become IQ within the next two years.

Anyway really yes the Rabo is not some superior competition but it's growing and it serves it's purpose. What it thankfully doesn't have is people having to constantly going round saying how they have the perfect formula and everything else is horribly inferior an useless. The Top 14 is not perfect.
