Twelvetrees signs for Gloucester

Great signing for Gloucester. It's not as if he's going to get Allens place at Leicster and doesn't seem to want to play fly half. Hopefully we'll see him at his best at Gloucester, in a lot of his games he's been thrown in at the deep end as Flood isn't playing, e.g. Leicester vs Perpignan in the heinekin last season.

Definitely not as creative (or controversial) as Fuimaono-Sapolu but a great signing for Gloucester.

He needs the game-time so I'm not at all surprised he's decided to leave Leicester. Might've been nicer for England if he moved somewhere where the 10 shirt wasn't quite nailed down, he's not likely to step in the first receiver spot unless Burns is injured.

As the article says, he wants to play 12 rather than 10 so that shouldn't be an issue.

What I didn't realise was that he is 23! Surely he should further along his rugby development by now - or is that just naivety regarding the set-up in English rugby?

It's because he's been stuck at Tigers getting no game time. If here were at any other team (with any other coach) he'd be well on his way, but Cockerill didn't rate him for some reason and only played him when he really really really really had to.

Good move, but Redpath really needs to knuckle down on strengthening the pack now...

In fairness to Cockerill - Twelvetrees is not a better 12 than Allen. He's also not a better 13 than Tuilagi. And he has consistency issues. I can't blame him for going for the stronger pairing. In a lot of his runs of games, Twelvetrees hasn't looked like he's overtaken them.

However, he clearly had talent and needed backing. Cockerill chose not to do so, and he can't be surprised when Twelvetrees goes to find someone who will. Also, yeah, Matt Smith as first reserve is not encouraging.

and Cockerill had a pop at Twelvetrees just for wanting to leave to get a run of games, I can't stand Cockerill he acts a like doofus in all post match interviews always making up excuses, and is a fool who can hardly say a sentence without swearing (hence why they have had to construct a glass fence in front of where he sits so people don't have to listen to his crap)

why is he having a go at Twelvetrees making a good move for himself and England, he's a good enough player not to be a tackle bag holder, so why shouldn't he move? and who is Cockerill to criticise him for moving?

saying he "doesn't want to fight for his place"

they also wasted Lucas Amorosino as well and he is doing really well at Montpellier now, so it's their loss, Amorosino did well at Leicester and scored 6 tries in 11 matches yet despite doing well when he did play, he hardly got a game

and by the way naming Cockerill England coach would be the stupidest move ever, Louis Deacon would get to 100 caps and he would put Matt Smith (who is not a better centre than Twelvetrees) in the side for sure

That's what you get with a former front row forward as a coach. Not known for their subtlety.
