This might go pear shaped but does anyone fancy a cheeky migration of nonsense free American politics chat to this thread?

A plan more cunning than one of Baldrick's.

BBC News - Eight hurt in Colorado fire attack after suspect shouts 'free Palestine'

Absolutely horrific... It seems like there are more cases of pro Gaza extremists resorting to violence in the USA.

I'm in Denver right now and was just thinking how clean and safe the city felt. Boulder isn't that far away. Incredible.

**** me - people are worried about sick family members and she follows up her tactless gaff with a sarcy update about the tooth fairy.

As usual the "free speech absolutists" are attempting to ban a whole host of books (ironically it would include the Bible by their standards, but they always find a way to make an exception for that).

To be fair, when the Isreal's are a bunch of Nazi, concentration camp loving, open air prison enforcers, genocide loving baby killers I'm surprised it's not happened more. It would be the honourable thing to do.

Harvard says internal Trump administration records show the White House directed agencies to freeze grant money

Republicans have been priming their base for years that universities are useless bodies of liberal indoctrination and nothing else. They have fostered a reverse snobbery in which the more highly educated you are, the less you know about the "real world" and the more indoctrinated you are. It's right up there as a piece of Orwellian propaganda and was laying the groundwork so Republicans could go to war with academia and have their base at least be apathetic and at most support the destruction of higher education.

It's such a weird act of self vandalism. Sabotaging Harvard when Europe and China are absorbing the brightest and best into their universities is phenomenally stupid - not that we're in a position to throw stones, but my point remains valid.

I mean that's all great, but when Harvard deliver degrees in comics, puppetry, and vampire castles vs werewolves lairs, not to mention deconstructing the angry white male, there has to be a discussion on university ethics in education no?

I mean these course cost kids a lifetime of debt, not ethical debt, hardcore hundred thousand dollar I can't afford food this week debt!

The 30% of foreign students who study at Harvard aren't all studying nonsense degrees, it's mainly engineering, management and medicine, so the unethical degrees that lead to little career options are targeted at US cash cows.

Then there's the growing problem of higher education being less welcoming for men. 40% of graduates last year, the lowest on record amongst the highest nu.ber of grads, and it's predicted to fall below 40% next year as applicant numbers from men are expected to be down again. Harvard have sheltered themselves from this so far but in the last 3 years have seen their gender gap widen.

It's clear to see US universities need reform, take recent swathes of US graduates crying online about the proposed student debt clearance biting them in their arse now its returned and started.

Student debt in the USA is 1.8 trillion, average 38k per student, over 42 million people. Less than 40% of those work in their field of study within 5 years, 27% within 10. The default rate is 8%, meaning over 3.5 million graduates defaulted on a significant loan.

Anthropology, fine arts and social studies are the lowest conversion to professional related fields, handsome of them have near 0% of graduates working in their field, because there is no field.

It's clear that US higher education needs reform, because of its unethical practices, we can all agree on that at least no? (Forgetting about what Trump is planning)

I call BS. Can you post the link to these degrees please?

I can imagine there are sub courses in subjects like literature that cover gothic horror or something as well as comics but I think you're being a bit sneaky here in how you've presented this information but happy to be proved wrong.
