USA news & politics

April - We're just after the bad hombres, the worst of the worst
October - Psyche! we're zip-tying naked children to the pavement at 3.00am and shooting priests in the head with pepper balls, for a giggle

Normally the party but in power gets blamed for a shutdown but I think the Republicans could get the blame for this. They repeatedly said Medicare and Medicaid would be safe from cuts, now the government is shut down because they refused to not cut these programs.

They are also using the shutdown to permanently fire staff and close entire offices, they can't pretend they didn't want to do this as they have openly tried it before, seem to be taking glee on it by calling all those fired "wasteful" and promising more.

Republicans can't really walk away from the shutdown pretending they didn't want it.

The cynic in me thinks that the orange-utan wanted this all along. He refused to meet the democrats thereby pushing the shut down, and now he's trying to spin everything including layoffs and denying blue states federal money as the fault of the democrats.

I actually think your right, the opposition usually takes the blame, its an opposition thing to make blocks, and Democrats certainly had their part to play, but I think they were short sighted and now the Republicans are using what they wanted to happen as a chance to make permanent change.

It wouldnt be the first time, it won't be the last, it feels like Democrats walked into a trap and now both parties optics seem to be cancelling each other out.

This may well turn out to be a huge win for Republicans, despite them funneling this entire situation.

Seems the orange-utan reneged on promises, to no one's surprise.

I worry about you, the sources thay dictate your world view are.... questionable.

It would be so much better without you.

Al least I read news and not make it up.

But what your reading is made up, I vary the news from multiple sources, spread across the spectrum...

Try some new sources, get alternative perspectives on stories, I promise you will enjoy it.

I hope this peace deal is the finishing touch for Trump getting the Nobel Peace Prize.

Also, I guess Jared Kushner is super bright and also deserves a part of the prize.

On the one hand I think the idea of specific minority and racial districts is a ridiculous system to have. On the other hand, the extents to which predominantly Republicans are going to try to gerrymander out their political opponents is staggering in a supposedly healthy democracy. Why don't they just have laws against gerrymandering full stop?

Do you know which state is the most gerrymandered according to independent redistricting commission & advocates?

Multiple airports refuse to play Kristi Noem video that blames Democrats for government shutdown

Airports say they won't air Kristi Noem shutdown video at TSA checkpoints

Guess what? No right wing news reporting this

It's fine, it's just a bit of a wind up and owning the libs, and the libs are falling right into the trap, billion iq multiverse brain and definitely not petty, dictatorial behaviour.
