In a year in which the Jaguares made the Super Rugby final. After beating Australia on the Gold Coast in 2018 was supposed we'd expected it to be the breakthrough moment for a tier-one nation on the rise. But then, RWC 2019 happened. What really went wrong with them?

The French weren't as bad as everyone thought, as per usual when it comes to the RWC.

They used the same players for Super Rugby and World Cup. Not enough squad rotation.

Group of death. With hindsight I think they would have stood a chance in Group A, but probably not in the other two.

Having most of the team at one club is a really dumb idea, if they're only going to have one pro team then they need to be more open minded about picking players based in Europe.

But really their main problem is that they aren't very good and haven't been for a while. Was always them or France to go out early and they came off worse.
