Nope, no funny business I think its more modern shorts that tend not to. My old Barbarian cotton shorts had pockets, my brother's Barbarian Pro-Fit shorts don't.

What would happen if Rugby Union did the same thing?

I thought they abolished props so you ended up with a game of 13 flankers?

If flankers disappeared the numbering would be all wrong e.g. 4,5,8,9,10. all the kids and women would be asking why is there no 6 or 7.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
