Next Sunday we (The Dorset Destroyers) head off to Plymouth to play a variation of wheelchair rugby.

Basically it's 5 vs 5 instead of 4 vs 4.

It's a test run of the sport to see what it's like. We've already done a little trial of it at Rossmore Leisure Centre back in September 2016 and it does work. It's run along the lines of Invictus Games where you have a running clock, so time is limited and it's gonna get messy ;)

So on Sunday March 12th we play against West Country Hawks and Hawks for Heroes at:-
Plymouth Life Centre
Mayflower Drive
Plymouth
Devon
PL2 3DG

You are more than welcome to come down and watch (Free) and see the 3 teams go head to head.

1st Match at 1.30(ish) between West Country Hawks and Hawks for Heroes.

Then we have a double header starting around 2.00 (ish)

GBWR are excited to announce the first ever official tournament series for the new wheelchair rugby 'variant' game.

The event marks the culmination of a huge amount of work and we are keen to launch this new version in an invitational pilot event.

The first tournament will be held at the UWE in Bristol on 15th April 2017, featuring players and teams from across Wales and the South of England.

GBWR have officially announced it now, which means that so many disabled people who could not play in the traditional league (Which was designed for tetraplegics and quadraplegics) is now open to many more disabled people :) :)

That's great news. I'm hopefully going to make it down for a game at some point. Really looking forward to it, if I can make it.
