Maybe the Netherlands needs to readjust the time threshold of severance packages to employees earning 70% of their previous salary from a maximum three years to 30 months, if they wish to further decrease the deficit of government spenditure.

**** me - 3 months should be enough! Certainly wouldn't get that if you were working in the private industry (unless your a bloomin CEO - those idiots get crazy golden parachutes!)

It starts with 3 months and if you've worked for 5 years straight you will get an extra month for every year you work.

4 years of work is a 3 month package
5 years of work is a 5 month package
30 years of work is a 30 month package

Doesn't make a difference if you work in the public or private sector. It's also an insurance for which all employees pay a monthly premium.
