Well, because a whole host of starters are out of consideration, we are effectively going to have a B team compete. By the word 'compete' I mean lose within 60 points....

The following players are out of the away leg of the Tri Nations:

http://www.planetrugby.com/story/0,25883,3821_7022948,00.html

<meta charset="utf-8">Duane Vermeulen (knee), Fourie du Preez (knee), Schalk Burger (thumb), Victor Matfield (calf and neck), Frans Steyn (ankle and back), Jaque Fourie (groin), Jean de Villiers (groin), BJ Botha (knee), Juan Smith (Achilles), Willem Alberts (shoulder), Bismarck du Plessis (shoulder), Andries Bekker (shoulder, groin and ankle), Jannie du Plessis (knee), Francois Louw (clavicle), Gurthrö Steenkamp (forearm), Francois Hougaard (ankle), Butch James (knee), JP Pietersen (back), Tendai Mtawarira (hamstring), Bryan Habana (shoulder), Bakkies Botha (knee).

So, with that in mind, this is my starting XV:

1. Coenie Oosthuizen (Cheetahs)
2. John Smit (If only it coulb be Schalk Brits... even Chilli-boy I would pick. But alas, Smit is the captain)
3. Dean Greyling (Bulls)
4. Flip vd Merwe (Bulls)
5. Alistair Hargreaves (Sharks.... Eeeeeeeeewwwwwwww)
6. Heinrich Brussouw (Cheetahs - He should be fit by then)
7. Ashley Johnson (Cheetahs)
8. Pierre Spies (Bulls)

9. Charl McLoed (Sharks - Sarel Pretorius is far better, but wasn't called up)

10. Morne Steyn (Bulls)
11. Lwazi Mvovo (Sharks)
12. Wynand Olivier (Bulls)
13. Juan de Jongh (Stormers)
14. Bjorn Basson (Bulls)
15. Patrick Lambie (Sharks)

What do you guys reckon? Pretty sad team I know... :(

So many players out, it's mad

Suppose it gives guys a chance to challenge for a WC spot, but to be missing so many prominent players...youch

1 Mtawarira
2 du Plessis
3 du Plessis
4 Botha
5 Matfield
6 Burger
7 Smith
8 Vermeulen
9 du Preez
10 James
11 Habana
12 de Villiers
13 Fourie
14 Pietersen
15 Steyn

16 Botha
17 Steenkamp
18 Bekker
19 Louw
20 Alberts
21 Hougaard
22

Add someone at 22 and that could be a few people's first-choice 22 (with a 5/2 split, but well). Perhaps with some of them they're being a little too careful?

those teams are just considering the remaining players from the 50 man squad here

but if I were to include other players I would include the following in the 22

Sarel Pretorius
Schalk Brits
Joe van Niekerk
CJ van der Linde

maybe Keegan Daniel (better than Deysel and Alberts)

just out of interest why didn't Gerhard Vosloo, Richardt Strauss, Shaun Sowerby, Daan Human, Mouritz Botha and Hendre Fourie not make an impact in SA?

my team:

1. Dean Greyling (Bulls)
2. John Smit (Sharks)
3. Werner Kruger (Bulls)
4. Flip vd Merwe (Bulls)
5. Danie Rossouw (Bulls)
6. Heinrich Brussouw (Cheetahs)
7. Jean Deysel (Sharks)
8. Pierre Spies (Bulls)
9. Ruan Pienaar (Ulster)
10. Morne Steyn (Bulls)
11. Lwazi Mvovo (Sharks)
12. Patrick Lambie (Sharks)
13. Juan de Jongh (Stormers)
14. Bjorn Basson (Bulls)
15. Gio Aplon (Stormers)

Sheesh, this XV has only 2 players I'd start if all were fit.

16. CJ van der Linde (Stormers)
17. Adriaan Strauss (Cheetahs)
18. Rynhardt Elstadt (Stormers)
19. Keegan Daniel (Sharks)
20. Charl McLeod (Sharks)
21. Peter Grant (Stormers)
22. Adi Jacobs (Sharks)

I hope they can prove us wrong. But it will not be easy to win games

Well my second XV might sound a bit odd, as lots of guys that are in PDV's first XV aren't even 2nd XV material IMO. With all these injuries, my second XV (if I were to choose the squad)

1. Coenie Oosthuizen
2. Gary Botha (Schalk Brits first choice hooker. Bismarck gives away too many penalties for a World Cup)
3. CJ van der Linde (Would have to call him up due to so much injury, although he'd be my starting loosehead with BJ at tighthead)
4. Rossouw (Would be my first choice lock, but too many injuries)
5. Franco van der Merwe (Such a skilled and under-rated player. Good in all aspects)
6. Keegan Daniel (My usual second choice loose trio would be 6. Louw 7. Alberts 8. Vermeulen)
7. Jean Deysel
8. Dewaldt Potgieter
9. Sarel Pretorious
10. Butch James (Peter Grant my first choice fly-half)
11. Bjorn Basson (Habana injury is a blessing. He is useless. Hougaard my first choice wing.)
12. Juan de Jongh
13. Gerhard van den Heever (Would be in my extended squad as wing cover, but he's played outside centre and woulod be good to give him experience)
14. Mvovo (Not a giant fan, Aplon my first choice number 14, but who else is there for second choice? Pietersen is useless IMO. Had a couple of good weeks, but years of poorness prior to that)
15. Riaan Viljoen
16. Adriaan Strauss (Yes, Bismarck is effectively my fourth choice hooker. Can't handle his retardation when it comes to discipline)
17. Dean Greyling
18. Wilhelm Steenkamp (Has been exceptional for the Cheetahs and is an Emerging Bok)
19. Ernst Joubert (Honestly we're f#*ked with loose-forward injuries. Gotta look over-seas)
20. Vermaak (anyone but McLeod)
21. Lambie (Lucky Lambie as he's known in my household)
22. Olivier

Not a team that's gonna win anything, but it's providing experience for youngsters while the top guys rest for the World Cup

my team:

1. Dean Greyling (Bulls)
2. John Smit (Sharks)
3. Werner Kruger (Bulls)
4. Flip vd Merwe (Bulls)
5. Danie Rossouw (Bulls)
6. Heinrich Brussouw (Cheetahs)
7. Jean Deysel (Sharks)
8. Pierre Spies (Bulls)
9. Ruan Pienaar (Ulster)
10. Morne Steyn (Bulls)
11. Lwazi Mvovo (Sharks)
12. Patrick Lambie (Sharks)
13. Juan de Jongh (Stormers)
14. Bjorn Basson (Bulls)
15. Gio Aplon (Stormers)

Sheesh, this XV has only 2 players I'd start if all were fit.

16. CJ van der Linde (Stormers)
17. Adriaan Strauss (Cheetahs)
18. Rynhardt Elstadt (Stormers)
19. Keegan Daniel (Sharks)
20. Charl McLeod (Sharks)
21. Peter Grant (Stormers)
22. Adi Jacobs (Sharks)

I wouldn't even put Adi Jacobs in my Springbok C team let alone their B, 22.

How Convenient....

how convenient?!?!?!?!

the entire A-side is injured of the Boks and are unable to play in the tri-nations.....but they will be 100% for the Wc......

25 players on the 1st team are injured....the 25 players going to the WC.....

a few days ago they were all 100% fit...after 1 day of training...they all injured....

but wait..... the team is only being anounced on saterday..... how muc hwill you bet that the players injured are all the players in teh WC sqaud????

how convenient.....

injured???? yeah right.... sounds like desperation to me.... but once again typical SA....

PDV couldn't even look teh reporter in the eye when he said the team is injured.....

how convenient.....

you are more likely to get ass fcked by a leprechaurn......then the entire team getting injured after playing all their games....

how convenient.....

i was told that the AB were faking it in the S15 when they all got injured while playing their haerts out to get in the Ab team.....

SA rugby makes me sick.....

how convenient.....

the whole SA 1st team is injured and not able to play in the tri-nations.....

you can go tell that **** to SA supporters...not to me.....

how can you guys be proud of a team like SA :?

ek suig eerder my linker eier.....

I would 80% of the 'rested' players have geniune injury and fatigue concerns

And isn't Butch James still suspended anyway?

Please, Iceman. Leave the conspiracy theories to us Saffa's. It's our bag. Deal with it. Clearly you haven't been following S15 and SA injury concerns or you are prone to gross hyperbole.

<meta charset="utf-8">Likely Bok XV to face Australia (23 July):

15 Gio Aplon
14 Bjorn Basson
13 Juan de Jongh
12 Wynand Olivier
11 Lwazi Mvovo
10 Morné Steyn

9 Ruan Pienaar
8 Danie Rossouw
7 Ashley Johnson
6 Deon Stegmann
5 Johann Muller,
4 Flip van der Merwe
3 Werner Kruger
2 John Smit (c)
1 Dean Greyling

Reserves: Heinrich Brüssow, Alistair Hargreaves, Adi Jacobs, Elton Jantjies, Charl McLeod, Ryan Kankowski, Pat Lambie, Odwa Ndungane, Coenie Oosthuizen, Chiliboy Ralepelle, Adriaan Strauss, Jean Deysel\

At least the back 3 will be pretty quick. All round, probably the best we can do, although I would play Brussouw ahead of Steggman, Kanko at 8, with Danie Rossouw replacing Muller at 5.

I personally think that PDV could have said that some of them have nagging injuries and we would like to "rest them" while also giving some other talent a chance to put their hands up. No matter how you look at it, it is hard not to say this is pretty convenient. I also think this tactic will work for SA, but would blow up in AUS. SA is an older team and the rest is good for them before the WC, while AUS is a young team and these boys need to keep that fire alive and can't lose their edge with a "Rest".

I bet you could go to any International team with a doctor and prove that your entire 1st XV all have injuries that need R&R. It is called Pro Sports, that’s life. So PDV has some balls to try and pull a move like that now.

Please, Iceman. Leave the conspiracy theories to us Saffa's. It's our bag. Deal with it. Clearly you haven't been following S15 and SA injury concerns or you are prone to gross hyperbole.

To my knowledge the only player to have sustained an injury during the Crusaders vs Stormers game was Schalk Burger with a broken thumb. Now these players are injured that play for the Stormers who weren't injured leading up to or during the game;

Jaque Fourie, Jean de Villiers, Andries Bekker, Francois Louw and Bryan Habana. It really is a funny coincidence that match day 22 players are ''injured'' one week after the game but no injuries were sustained during the game. They also haven't been training because they got kicked out of the tournament. How on earth did they get injured then? Watch PdV get slammed for this. Jake White got away with it in 2007 because he could but now there is a clause written into the SANZAR contract which means if PdV is pulling the same **** that White did in 2007, there will be penalties.

Or.....

These players had minor injuries, that could flare in time if players are not given a rest, but are small enough at the moment that for the sake of winning a trophy, can wait.

As Dougydeluxe said, you would find that most pro rugby players are playing with some ****le or other.

Jacque Fourie, Jean de Villiers, Andries Bekker and Bryan Habana weren't all neccesarily doubts, but were geniune injury concerns during and leading up to the last few fixtures for the Stormers. Did you see Bekker at the end of the Stormers game? He was knackered beyond belief.

Lets try be make some method out of the madness.

Duane Vermeulen (knee)- Out for two months
Fourie du Preez (knee)- Had a knew injury that kept him out for 4 weeks or so
Schalk Burger (thumb)- Broken thumb
Victor Matfield (calf and neck)- Has been playing the entire season with a neck problem
Frans Steyn (ankle and back)- I don't know, but already has the NH season behind, so would be naturally fatigued
Jaque Fourie (groin)- Strain picked up against the Chiefs, always a troubling type of injury
Jean de Villiers (groin)- Missed a couple of games
BJ Botha (knee)- I don't know, same as F. Steyn
Juan Smith (Achilles)- Nothing needs to be said
Willem Alberts (shoulder)- Struggled for the last few weeks with the injury, got taken off in the play-off with the Crusaders clutching it.
Bismarck du Plessis (shoulder)- Also struggled with his shoulder this season
Andries Bekker (shoulder, groin and ankle)- Mentioned already
Jannie du Plessis (knee)- Missed a couple of games towards the end
Francois Louw (clavicle)- I don't even know what the clavicle is, but with Brussouw/ Smith fit, he is hardly in line for the 22 line-up
Gurthrö Steenkamp (forearm)- Broke it, still injured
Francois Hougaard (ankle)- Not sure
Butch James (knee)- I don't know
JP Pietersen (back)- I don't know
Tendai Mtawarira (hamstring)- I don't know
Bryan Habana (shoulder)- Got injured when fell awkwardly in the Saders game
Bakkies Botha (knee)- Struggled to be fit for the Bulls final game, didn't look 100% percent to me, and was subbed with a fair stretch of the game to go.
