Why playoffs after 22 games?

Why is there necessity for playoffs after 22 league games? I think that is totally unnecessary. The league winners should be decided by 22 games.

Money and commercial reasons. Take playoffs away and you take a hell of alot of money away

It also means every round is meaningful - the competition isn't over until the last game is played. Take a look at the EPL where half the time the winning team is decided two or three weeks before the season ends.

Well that too of course. But regardless I love the playoff system
