I like these! Agree with 15, would swap Ford and Biggar at 10, Throw Louw down to 5th at 7 and swap O'Mahoney for O'Brien at 6! Not that much change considering the huge amount of variables methinks!

Yeah its quite hard for some of these. Ford and Biggar is a hard one, in their respective team's I think England and Bath cater to Ford's abilities better than Wales do for Biggar. On a 1v1 ability match up I think there's pretty much nothing between them.
Sexton is a hard one as for his club he would struggle to make the top 10 but for Ireland he's just been magnificent really.
SOB is scary though, I'm going to do Number 8 and he might make that list as well...

Front 5 needs more love here.

Lock:
1) Retallick
2) Etzebeth
3) O'Connell
4) Wyn Jones
5) Launchbury
6) Whitelock
7) Lawes
8) J. Gray
9) Matfield
10) Toner

Number 8
1) Read
2) Parisse
3) Vermuelen
4) Vunipola
5) Morgan
6) Faletau
7) Heaslip
8) Picamoles
9) Vito
10) Hughes

Sorry if I've forgotten certain non-international/international 2nd choice players for leagues besides the AP in my ignorance. I was feeling that my knowledge was a little thin on the ground towards the end of the 8s list.

Number 8
1.Read (this year Duane but overall Read is an incredible talent)
2.Duane
3.Parisse
4.Morgan
5.Heaslip
6.Lee
7.Vunipola
8.Picamoles
9.Faletau
10.Chouly

This is so hard to do. Faletau is so different to Picamoles and Vunipola, he's more like Chouly and I think he does the role better. Parisse is so close to Read and Duane, Morgan on form can carry against anyone. Heaslip on form is near there but you could change 5/6 of my list.

Hooker
1.Bismarck
2.Coles
3.Best
4.Kayser
5.Moore
6.Ford
7.Brits
8.Guirado
9.Youngs
10.could be anyone really

Loosehead Under New Rules
1.Ayerza
2.Beast
3.Healy
4.Marler
5.Vunipola
6.Grant
7.Jenkins
8.Dickinson
9.McGrath/Moore I can't remember which
10.Mulipola

Tighthead
1.Zirakashvilli
2.Cole
3.Moore
4.Franks
5.Malherbe
6.Slimani
7.Johnstone
8.Wilson
9.Mas
10.Figallo

Props are the hard ones as really they should be judged on scrummaging but now the game has changed so much so Franks is up there because of his loose work.

I think it will be a lot clearer after the WC how players compare- the last year has seen a lot of changes and new faces, I could see a lot of players rise and fall up these rankings easy.

I'll try

openside

McCaw
Pocock
O'Brien
Brussow
Robshaw
Hooper
Warburton
Alberts
Louw
Cane
Savea

blindside

Kaino
Cootzie
Burger
Messam
Vito

yadda yadda... yeah, basically all blindsides from the NH seem to be VERY average atm Hask/POM/Wood/Lydiate <_<

doesn't seem to be much point in listing non-internationals in these lists, as that is the only way you can really compare players at the top level- top 5's would be more accurate/easy to compile.

.

I can't let this pass. Matfield has been beyond dire. He's a leader and a very good lineout technician, but Lood de Jager - as from having an amazing name - showed that you need more than that these days. I'd take Flip over Matfield as well, not to mention the Aussie pair of Skelton and (maybe) Simmons.

Got to be honest, I'm aware that Etzebeth and Rettalick are regarded as top top players but fact is I just havemn't watched them / paid attention too much - so It'd feel a bit odd to put them at the top.

For me, Launchbury is a very very special player who I would probably have higher.
Matfield shouldn't get a look-in here.
Toner maybe a bit higher - a very good player and for me Ireland right now encapsulate the need for a real tight-head lock who can guarantee going forward..
Think it might be a bit premature for Johhny Gray - I'm a big fan of Luke Charteris and would have him here instead, perhaps in front of Charteris.

Hooker:

1) Bismarck Du plessis
2) Dane Coles
3) Motu Matu'u
4) Dlyan Hartley
5) Augustin Creevy
6) Adriaan Strauss
7) Stephen Moore
8) Dimitri Szarzewski
9) Tatafu Polota-Nau
10) Tom Youngs

Wingers

1.Naholo
2.Savea
3.Piutau
4.Nadolo
5.Speight

Centres

1.Nonu
2.Fekitoa
3.C.Smith
4.Kirindrani
5.Giteau

I can't accept that a player with one cap (Naholo) can be considered the best winger in the world. Piutau at 3 is also very dubious.

He is the best winger in the world at the moment. What's wrong with Piutau? MotM on the wing this weekend and was an MVP in the 2013 100% win season.

Nothing wrong with him, good player, but is he really better than North, Habana, Bowe, Mitchell etc?

Henry, that's your loss. They are awesome players and, much as I love Launchbury, I couldn't place him above them with a straight face - and I'm not sure I could place him ahead of POC or AWJ either.

Which says a fair about the quality of lock going about right now.

As for Jonny Gray - I'll fight you! Nah, you're right, it's a bit soon to be making this much fuss *BUT* to perform as well as he has throughout the year has been nothing short of incredible. He keeps doing that and he breaks into that top five with ease.

Personally, I'd have Parling on that list.
