15. Byrne Not Kearney because he was crap this year until Byrne got injured on the Lions tour. Not Muliaina because he (through no fault of his own) hasn't had the chance to shine in the NZ team. 14. Pietersen Defensively excellent, pacy... what more can you want. Rokocoko is out of form, and Bowe's had a great year but... it's Tommy Bowe. 13. O'Driscoll Fourie & Conrad Smith in competition, both of those two I was more impressed by last year. O'Driscoll I'm not sure I've ever been more impressed by. 12. Giteau Because he's RU's most talented footballer. de Villiers was a better player last year, so was Nonu. Roberts had a good Lions tour but no more. 11. Habana Struggling for options here - Sivivatu is being too Fijian and not enoguh All Black at the moment; Williams is out of sorts and Nalaga still not a full international. Habana's picked his form up however. 10. Carter No real argument. 9. du Preez Peel and Blair are the only potentially world class 9s to compete, but neither has been good for at least a year. 8. Parisse Could have had Spies, but let's see him behind a bullied front 5 first. So'oialo has drifted off this year. Parisse is a class act. 7. Brussow Wins the 7 shirt by defeating McCaw and George Smith, the 2 best 7s in the world, hands down. Burger was never as good as those 2 anyway. 6. Elsom (pre-injury) Juan Smith after. Elsom was awesome for Leinster this season and the best loose forward in Europe. Then he got injured and step up Juan Smith, always overshadowed in the Springbok back row but always superb. Kaino deserves a mention too. 5. Matfield Has been the best 5 in the world for absolutely ever. 4. Botha A better 4 than Chris Jack, the only competition. 3. Hayman Smit is a hooker; Murray is always injured. No one else gets close. 2. du Plessis World class hooker. Could pick Smit here too. 1. Jenkins Mtawarira I see as no more than solid. The All Black tight 5 is poor at the moment. No one else sticks their hand up.
