Good topic. I found it a bit tough to shoe horn enough English and Scottish players in, so those selections are slightly more questionable (although I fail to see why Duckham doesn't get more love). In hingsight, I've placed a lot of emphasis on longevity and success and know little to nithing about rugby before the 70s.

1 Ian McLauchlan
2 Keith Wood
3 Fran Cotton
4 Gordon Brown
5 Martin Johnson
6 Richard Hill
7 Fergus Slattery

I was with you till the random Simon Taylor entry. If you had to have a Jock - John Beattie (the elder), Derek White or iain Paxton are infinitely superior choices

this is my team choice. I know it's not the best lions team ever but I tried to keep the selection to the era of rugby that I watched the lions from.

Yes very true although until he was injured Taylor was playing some fantastic rugby in 2001.

Derek White was good but always second fiddle to Dean Richards
