SA 31 (I wish)

1 T Mtawarira / S Kitshoff
Keeping Mtwawarira if only since the rest of the tight five are quite young for a tier 1 RWC team.
2 A Strauss / B du Plessis / S Ntubeni
Strauss now officially ahead of Bismarck if only for the latters' lack of sense
3 V Koch / F Malherbe / C Oosthuizen
Koch the find of the season. I can't remember a time a tight hed has been as dominant in Super Rugby. It remains to be seen if he can do the same at a higher level if given the chnce. Has been keeping Malherbe on the pine.
4 E Etzebeth / J du Plessis (Jacques, not Jannie- I havn't lost my marbles just yet!)
5 PS du Toit / V Matfield
Just hoping PSdT keeps fit for a few games. He is like a SA version of Retallick if maybe a tad less so but a Trojan at line out time to mke up for any lost ground.
6 F Louw (vc) / M Coetzee
EIther way it'll be hard luck for one of them to miss out. Even Brussow is looking good ATM. Could be a surprise inclusion if HM were the type to eat his words.
7 W Alberts / A Botha
Alberts like Nonu you can't leave out of a test side even if they invariably don't look as good at SR level. Alberts thrives in the tighter test matches.
8 D Vermeulen (c) / W Whiteley
Pick themselves. Very tempting to move Whiteley to the flanks. What has been the most encouraging for me has been Vermeulen's leading the Stormers with aplomb in JdV's absense.
9 J Reinach / F du Preez / F Hougard
I'll bank on FdP as long as he feels he can play. Adding both Reinach and Hougaard as both can cover wing superbly.
10 H Pollard / P Lambie
I can't remember myself feeling more confident in our options at pivot. Lambie had the edge last year but Pollard is taking to top flight rugby like he was born too do so.
11 B Habana
Probably more for a lack of other real threats here and Habana's proven class. IE I'd rather one of our utility players cover the wings than start plumbing our winger depths. (Reinch, Hougaard, De Allende, Le Roux or Kriel would do better here than our 3rd choice wingers IMO)
12 D de Allende / J de Villiers if 100%.
Form SA SR player of the season so far for me (and last season though at test level he was thrown in at the deep end out of position and it showed- so stick to 12 and 14 if necessary) Steyn has supposedly come out and made himself available again but I've lost my confidence in him. Rather another up-and-commer in Serfontein, Odendaal or Vorster. We could always just take 3 centers as Serfontein can play 12 and 13.
13 J de Jongh / J Serfontein
This might just be my WP/Stormers bias but I'd love to see form and class rewarded. His step and acceleration the perfect foil for De Allende's power and off-loading game and the two are starting to develop an understanding at club level. He may be smaller than what we've been used in the SA centers but doesn't drop off too many
14 W le Roux / C Hendricks
15 J Kriel
Less of a play maker than Le Roux but just as dangerous on the attack and his more direct play and robust physique should stand him in better stead at test level- Le Roux looks lost if the space is closed down and can't stand up in a tackle and off load like Kriel. Le Roux has been too erratic with his core fullback play and hasn't looked like changing that at SR level (positional play suspect and too many turn overs off of handling errors and getting caught out in posession). Credit though for his ~95% tackle success rate and leading the try assist stats.

Like I said this is my wishlist and it leans towards form rather than test experience. That said I'd be shocked if Koch and Kriel weren't called up and also if PSdT, DdA and Reinach weren't retained and starting. I'd be surprised to De Jongh recalled though. Him and Brussow are probably the guys that have stayed in SA that can feel the most hard done by. I wonder though if HM will stick to some pedestrian selection purely for the sake of consistency and/or experience. I am talking of Flip van der Merwe, Jannie du Plessis, Teboho Mohoje and JP Pietersen in particular here.

Ewers won't be going to the world cup, Haskell will go instead of him.

Otherwise yep....

Mullan over Vunipola ain't happening.

I also doubt we'll see six back rows.

Damn, I should read the ***le. I thought it said the squad you'd like to see. In that case then yeah I think Lancaster will pick Haskell over Ewers and Mako over Mullan

1) Crockett, Ben Franks, Joe Moody

You really think Woodcock and SBW will miss out?

I didn't really think of them to be honest! I think in a pressure situation with the World Cup final in overtime I'd feel more comfortable with Crotty, put it that way. Defensively he's better than SBW. Williams could either set up a crucial try, or have an entire game full of bumbles.

I guess it's conceivable that Woodcock would be there. Is his fitness and everything ok though for that level? It would probably depend on the Rugby Championship and if he can get some solid game time under his belt.

11.Nowell
12.Eastmond/Tuilagi
13.Joseph/Slade
14.Ashton(cowering behind sofa)
15.Brown/Pennel

Surely Watson over Pennell because a) Watson has more experience and b) if a wing gets injured then what happens? Surely you don't want to see Brown on the wing again?

Presuming a 17/14 spit.

Props: Healy, McGrath, Bent, Ross, Bent
Hookers: Best, Cronin, Strauss
Locks: O'Connell, Toner, Henderson, Tuohy
Backrows: Heaslip, O'Mahony, O'Brien, Henry, Ruddock/Murphy
Scrumhalves: Murray, Reddan, Boss/Marmion
Outhalves: Sexton, Jackson, Madigan
Centres: Henshaw, Payne (@cmac95 Olding won't be fit until 2016)
Backthree: Kearney, Bowe, Zebo, Fitzgerald, Earls, Jones

With an 18/13 split one of Madigan and Jackson drops out, Bent is gone and Kilcoyne and White come in.

I think the widely held presumption is 31 man squads but is there actually any official source confirming it yet?
