Your team's greatest XV - from the Heineken Cup era / Super Rugby era

what about Eric Miller and Victor Costello, how do they compare with O'Brien?
Miller was great on his day but was injured far too often. I'd take Elsom, O'Brien and Aidan McCullen ahead of Tampax.

Costello looked brilliant carrying the ball for a hundred metres per game and handing off the entire opposition. It's just a shame that of his 100 metres ran, 95 of them were going sideways across the pitch and his handoffs had no impact since they got him nowhere! I was never a big fan of big Vic. He had to ability to be a much more effective player.

With the benefit of the having seen the Heineken Cup knock out games, I'd make a few changes to the above team:

15. Nacewa
14. Horgan
13. O'Driscoll
12. D'arcy
11. Hickie
10. Sexton
9. Whitaker
1. Corrigan/Healy
2. Byrne
3. Wright
4. Cullen
5. O'Kelly
6. Elsom/O'Brien (based on one seasons work v three seasons work)
7. Gleeson
8. Heaslip

why's Stan Wright still there?

wouldn't you consider Ross, Paul Wallace or even van der Linde better?

In the Heineken Cup era he has been the best 3. Mike Ross had superb season but last year he was a nightmare for Leinster. And some may argue Ross just got his chance through Wrights injury. But Wright really improved the scrum on his arrival and has been a rock solid player for Leinster. I wouldn't argue if Ross was there but think Wright is deserving.

CJ was good too but I don't think Wallace was in same class as these lads in Heineken Cup era. I always though Pauls best stuff was in UK

No.

Ross has had a good season. Wright had 4 or 5. van der Linde was injured most of his two campaigns with Leinster. Wallace was captain average who had a good Lions tour and very little else.

Ross could overtake Wright but he needs another top quality season to get ahead of Wright in what I'd consider to be the best Leinster team of the HCup era.

Really Bruce reihana over Mils?!

Tough call but he was one of the most underrated players of his era. He could do everything Mill's could and was more illusive.
100 people would pick 100 different teams i reckon.

I actually think i might change my mind and put Donald ahead of Jackson.

Olly can you justify selecting in your best Sale team

1) Magnus Lund ahead of Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe
2) Oriol Ripol/Rory Lamont ahead of the all time Premiership top try scorer
3) Lee Thomas ahead of Graeme Bond
4) Eifion Lewis-Roberts at the wrong side of the scrum

just interested to know ...

Eifion has always been a better tighthead than loosehead in my eyes. He can play both sides well, but I prefer him at 3.

Steve Hanley probably should be there, however he benefited from playing alongside Jason Robinson (in the same way Ashton has alongside Foden) - his defence wasn't great, and he was a finisher more than a complete winger.

I'm probably looking at Lund through nostalgia-tinted-glasses to be honest - he was a very good player for Sale. Not that Lobbe wasn't, mind. Either/or, for them (Lund wins because he got a try in the prem final :p)

and I'm just a massive Lee Thomas fan

Cardiff Blues: Im going to do from 2001/2002 onwards, because I can only judge fairly based from here on. Obviously, years before had much better players most likely.

1. Gethin Jenkins
2. Gareth Williams (Hard to choose, not our best area in terms of good players)
3. Dai Young
4. Bradley Davies
5. Paul ***o
6. Maama Molitika
7. Sam Warburton/ Martyn Williams
8. Xavier Rush
9. Mike Phillips
10. Nicky Robinson
11. Jonah Lomu
12. Jamie Roberts
13. Casey Laulala
14. Leigh Halfpenny
15. Ben Blair
