Yeah, very different type of player but hopefully Carnduff can break through. A big, abrasive 6 with good leadership skills would be nice to have.
Isn't that CCS? Without the leadership qualities as of yet?

This is the issue with the back row at the moment. we're talking about the next cab off the rank before the previous one has got going itself and the previous one to that is only 26/27..🤣

very left field but Cam Neild is an absolute bruiser/workhorse

edit: ffs getting my names conflated - i meant freddie lockwood

I’m not saying Carnduff should be involved any time soon, but he was equally as influential as Pollock at U20 level. He’s also an out and out 6 which we don’t have a lot of.

Be interesting to watch the Earl situation definitely. He has the physical ability we're crying out for at 12. Maybe his passing might be a focal point of if it goes ahead or not...
Some days this thread moves too fast

He's thrown some absolute howitzers* in his time but we (obviously) don't get to see it that often because he's there to mostly carry

*not howlers

Difference is that Pollock seems to have already made the step up to full men's level where as Carnduff hasn't shown that yet in the premiership. Maybe he is capable of stepping up too and just needs to be given the chance, but until he does we have enough options moving forward. Hopefully though he will get more premiership gametime soon.

True, but 1) he’s spent the majority of that time injured and 2) he’s competing with a player who is a mainstay of the side (Liebenberg).

In contrast, Lawes and Ludlam’s departures have given Pollock a great opportunity to play, which he has grabbed with both hands.

I’m not saying Carnduff will have the same impact as Pollock but he’s still one to look out for and as is often the case, sometimes how and when opportunities come up can massively influence a players’ breakthrough.

The kids at Saints love him, if it gets youngsters into the club, or even better if they pick up a ball and get going down the local juniors club.

The opinions of predominantly middle aged men having melt downs about Pollock on social media doesn't matter so much.

I thought TRF_Olyy only posts here.

What I do love about this conversation is that fact we actually have options. I could put together 3 different back rows that people might have a slight argument against, but in reality wouldn't moan at.

That's a massive positive. We have so much talent!
Harking back to the glory days of a back row of Croft, Wood and Robshaw.

Robshaw, Wood, Morgan. That was quite something

(All three great players at times but crikey that's a one note backrow)
