I never really understood the uproar about that beyond "lol @ England" (and considering it was Haskell...fair play)

Italy used a loophole literally no one else had used, and one that got shut immediately after because WR realised how dumb it was. Is it any surprise no one really knew what was happening in the heat of the moment?

I think Melbourne Rebels or someone had used it to bamboozle an NZ side, but yeah it wasn't exactly a common tactic and hardly likely to have popped up during the analysis sessions in the training week. Watching Haskell look even dumber than usual was good entertainment anyway

Edit: Got that completely arse about face, apparently it was the Chiefs

Well Eddie had a right old moan afterwards. Tbh the most memorable bit was Haskell and Hartley asking the ref what they should do and the ref saying that's not his problem.

And England still won 36-15.

I think you're being more than a touch harsh. While I'm always reluctant to over hype a player, Pollock is repeatedly writing his own headlines.

I'm always more inclined towards a hard working, nuts and bolts type of flanker (in my own image), but it's getting harder and harder to deny that Pollock is genuinely outstanding.
Yeah, cant think of any other back rowers who can do some of the things he's doing, he also made the most tackles on the pitch on Saturday and was top for defensive ruck entries I think. He raises his level every time he has too, I mean to score a try like that against leinster semi finals of Europe in the Aviva is pretty special you got to give him his dues.

Martin confirmed out for the summer

For the best I feel, would've hated if Borthwick rushed him

Give him a full proper off season again
I think thats the best (without the injury obviously)...recover well, full brutal preseason with Leicester and come out firing for the new season. Challenge for that England lock spot again.

Meanwhile, England without Itoje, Chessum and Martin are forced to look at their depth and options available.

Ewers to break his red record?
The teams line up pre game and are introduced to president Javier Milei.

Ewels attempts to bow his head in respect as The President draws level, but nerves get the better of him and he drops the nut on the Argentine premier.

This is found to meet the head contact threshold and with no mitigation, the red is upheld 5 minutes before a ball is kicked.

In a wider context, it's also the catalyst for a renewed attempt to regain The Falklands as a military junta takes control in the power vacuum left when Milei is taken off for an HIA.

Borthwick claims Ewels is "getting better week on week"

That's be mad not to tbh, apparently it's only 50/50 he plays by the end of the club season

Sleightholme is back at the same time, maybe SB will chuck them in to the England XV side and use that as a tester
