England 2024/25

Just saw a tweet about Donoghue and came right here. He'd look good in even more blue imo.

Equally, can see this being his 15mins. Was in the Exiles programme but didn't make age grade and has obviously come through the long route. Only so many success stories (at an international level anyway) like that.

Donoghhue, especially, and Benson just shouldn’t be near this conversation yet on experience grounds, regardless of talent. And we shouldn’t be looking to cap the former just to keep him off Ireland’s radar.

I’d feel more comfortable with Atkinson or Bailey as they’ve at least been around a while and got some experience although from a blooding perspective neither has really done enough to suggest that they have England futures.

TBH if Ford gets injured or is summoned to Aus I’d be looking at invoking special circumstances and seeing if Farrell was willing to help out. There will be plenty of relative newcomers in other positions and we have no pressing need to develop further depth at 10.

I dont think anyone is really discussing Donoghue or Benson as England starters. However, they come in to the chat as Smith x 2 are Lions and we need a back up for Ford on the Argentina tour. Many seemingly arent fussed on Atkinson or Bailey so the talk then naturally goes to the next batch. Especial if Ford gets a belated call up to the Lions.

But i agree...it WAY too early.

Hopefully Ben Curry isn't ******

Although Pepper starting and Ilione or Kenningham on the bench would still be decent
Pepper is a class act. Inexperienced but sometimes you just pick the lad.

Illone is impressing me every time he comes off the bench. But do you take him if he's a not a set in stone starter for his club?

6 Ted Hill / CCS
7 Pepper
8 Tom Willis

It's inexperienced but got all the ingredients you want for a back row.

Kenningham off the bench...

Idk I feel the starting isn’t an issue
Reality is having a guy who is known to add impact off the bench at the very least isn’t a bad thing to have.

Some really good starters offer zero impact off the bench for example

How much will CCS be used at Lock? I can see him and THill getting experience there this tour as Genuine cover, given how many back rowers we have and how many injuries Chessum, Martin and Coles have had. And no ready made replacements. Isiekwe has been in but not that much, Arthur Clarke is good but not sure how favoured.

Do we use CCS as some power in the row and allowing us to have that mobility in the back row. Or he comes on and Willis comes on to keep the physicality up.

Don't love it unless he moves there for club I'm just curious.
