1st test - Australia v British & Irish Lions

My thoughts as an Aussie:
- blown off the park physically. At least start blokes like Bell and Pollard if our big boppers arent fit ffs.
- OKeefe is the limpest dick the universe has ever seen. Tackle in the air, direct contact to the head with the shoulder, 8+ penalties within the 22, no arms tackle on the try line - no yellow. Get the **** out of here you sheep ******* spastic.
- Lions best back was an Aussie so we still win. Suck my dick.
- only losing by 8 is kind of remarkable. If we get all of our guys back and actually pick LSL we may still be a shot of snatching one.
?????
JGP is a Kiwi. Lions best back was not Aus. And if you meant centre I think he won't even be there next week

That was a seriously flat test match. Felt like a warm-up game in the first half. An average Lions side beat a poor Wallaby side. The Lions will win the series, but only because they are the better of two fairly poor teams. If this Lions squad was touring NZ or SA I don’t think they would win a test match.

100%

Paradoxically, this is the type of series that kills the lions. A similar test 2 and watch 30k show up for test 3 as the entire country moves on.

No buzz. No drama. Not even handbags. Just a bland game all around. Just a boring Lions team versus a sub-par Oz team.

Think back to 2013. Coming out test 1 you had real drama.

North vs Falou
Beale slip at the death
Corbs coming out of nowhere to dominate.

What’s the narrative after test 1? Oz don’t have the beef to compete? Reffing not great?

I’m praying for an Oz win in test 2 because a dead rubber will be horrible for everyone involved.

Yeah have to agree with that. Remember watching the first test in 2001 in the Walkabout bar in Nottingham and there was Robinson and BODs tries, proper needle in the contact. Such a great game and this one......just didn't produce that.

Agree with the sentiments that the game seemed flat and more like a warm up rather than a test match.

The best and most interesting part of the tour so far has been the Farrell call up and Morgan not in the squad for the first test.

Farrell senior:

"Tom Curry and Tadgh Beirne were absolutely immense. Curry put in some shots defensively and Tadgh got the turnover very early doors. It didn't stop there," Farrell said.

"Conan's carrying was very much on the front foot. Those three guys I'm sure they'll be delighted with how they responded to being selected.

"Curry and Beirne are a man of their word and that's what they delivered."

Professionalism has sanitised the sport too much for Tours like this, you want the potential jeopardy of someone stamping on someone elses head

Hmm, wonder why he's being singled out.

Let's see, from the stats for Keenan

9 carries, 22m made
2 tackles, 1 missed
2 turnovers lost
1 kick
6 passes
Directly responsible for first Aussie try

He scored 0 for everything else, line breaks, defenders beaten etc.

And the Torygraph gave him 7/10. What for?

Rugbypass gave the back three 5 each which was generous.
