Other Matches, Wk2

it's a shame Canada and England will meet in semis cause I don't see Ireland or NZ matching either of them.
Are they?
They're first and second seeds - surely that means they're not suporto meet until the final?
Thats literally the point of seeding.

ETA: just had a look at the schedule thread - due to meet in the final

England should win Pool A, so QF4
Canada should win Pool B, so QF2

Winner of QF2 plays winner of QF1 (NZ)
Winner of QF4 plays winner of QF3 (France)

AKA : SF1 should be 2nd seed Vs 3rd seed
SF2 should be 1st seed Vs 4th seed
Normal seeding

France are definitely the Andy Murray of the big 4.
Comfortably better than anyone else, but essentially needs an injury withdrawal in order to win a SF

Yes, that’s frustrating, I don’t see why they only used Friday night once as well.
I think I’m going to start Italy v SA delayed after this has finished and skip half time to hopefully get back on schedule.

I had to watch 2 of yesterday's on delay, skipping every kick to touch, scrum set and HT.
Was still a little behind when the Roses kicked off.

That was my fault for working, this is deliberate scheduling (I'd guess, trying to keep people in Sandy Park for both matches - but people have been anyway, with a 2-hour delay - especially if there's a Fan Zone showing the intervening match)

Oh yeah, the double header thing hadn’t occurred to me.
Good call on skipping touch kicks and scrum sets, that’ll help the catch-up

Nice and easy on iPlayer (TV app), as skip is 10seconds.
Yesterday it was the TV recording, so skip was 60seconds, which was often too much.

IMO, Aurelie is the best female ref (Hollie might have something to say about that), her issue is that she's not great at English, and often delays warnings etc as she tries to find the right word
I stand by that, excellent decision, and called in real time as well (as an advantage).

That reply by NZ is kinda swift - Canada-esque

Just watching Spain vs Ireland on catchup, the breakdowns such a mess Ireland getting away with murder not rolling, not releasing, the jackle turn overs are probably the main difference.

It would be nice if Scotland beat Canada or Australia beat England and then England play Canada instead of Scotland in the QF

Nasty injury for Italy, who ARE being bullied by SA.
I thought they'd be used to it enough to be able to adapt better than they have been (so far).

Overall impression is confirming my bias - Italy the better rugby players, SA the more physical (similar but exaggerated from USA v Aus).
So far, physicality is winning.

SA#8 needs a bigger bollocking (but not penalty) for lifting the leg of an Italian who's being held up in a tackle - that's ****'s dangerous (and fair play, she did let go when told).

And as I type, lovely break by JvR
SA's 2nd

Think that’s a bit harsh on the South Africans. They’ve been dominant in the scrum and lineout and have had strong line breaks both through the forwards and backs, just that when the forwards get a bit of a rumble going it feels like an unfair rugby game cheat code as it’s almost a guaranteed 2-4m gain.

Really hoping it doesn’t bite them later, but they left at least two tries on the field with some pretty poor discipline of offsides in front of the ball player and truck and trailer.
