Arrogant south africans

I agree with you when it comes to The Stormers...they get arrogant 4 nothing...even when they losing they think they are the best. Bulls do it only when they win titles which is okay. The Sharks are always humble...
Lions also getting arrogant before they have even been on the field...sorry 4 them, but there is no chance they will beat the Bulls this weekend.

Pffft, stupid media mongering calling people out on what everybody is thinking anyway.

Don't give the arrogant argument, the Stormers may very well not even make the play offs this year, but statistically everyone knows the Australian sides have been playing below the New Zealand and (some) South African teams for a while.

If the Brumbies came out and said they don't rate the Cheetahs and Lions no body would bat an eyelid, because realistically no one would think they'd be their top opposition this year.

Typical Aussie media though.

When I first read the title of this thread I was thinking 'WOOH' but after reading that from the Stormers players its...unbelievable. Thats between team mates kind of talk. The thread should read arrogant Stormers but its not my thread.

Meh. Blown out of proportion by an Aussie journo with wet panties.

If you can't respond to fighting talk with fighting talk then don't go and cry about it. LMAO!! over how precious this guy is about the 'strike power' of Kurtley beale et al.. LOL!

I like the belief the Stormers are showing in themselves but we need to back it up this year as last year we won all the NZ sides but only 1/4 of Aus sides..

Like to see that winners list when looking at the professional era timeline...Wp i think maybe only 1 win and Sharks 4-5. Bulls will struggle after this year...matfield,Rossouw,Du preez, Botha all likely to leave pretoria...and the back up players are far off the quality of those mentioned.

To be honest half of what comes out of the Aussie rugby media is Bull, but hey...the aussies are bladdy funny when they say the things they do.

proballly should of said the stormers are arogant and the reds beat them

That I can agree with.

This time round though the Reds will be playing at Newlands and aren't an unknown factor any longer. FOoooooookKK, I can't wait any longer! Bring it.

Totally unrelated but why do NZ/Aus bloggers keep typing things like 'should of' instead of 'should have' and use 'then' for 'than' etc? Is that standard English in Australasia?

Talking about arrogance...Mccaw seems to sweat arrogance, even when they have just lost a game he makes it sound as if they were robbed, instead of just being a good loser and accepting defeat.

Would have to agree with you. On reading the article it definitely seems that the journalist has blown the comments out of proportion and is just looking for an attention grabbing headline which he seems to have achieved.

shame, comming for a reporter that has nothing to write about, maybe it has something to do with now that rugby union is considered to be in the 9th position when it comes to the favourite sports in Australia

Shame, siestog, foeitog

I would love to see what the actual questions that were put to the stormers players - if it's along the usual lines of "who do you think are going to be your toughest challenge" etc, then how is it arrogant to name a couple of sides that aren't Australian ... just because they don't see them as the greatest threat, doesn't mean they aren't a threat.

If you are playing each team in your local franchise twice, and the teams from the other franchises (and not all of them) only once, the strongest teams in your local franchise are going to provide the greatest threat to your chances aren't they?

Looking through the schedule, the only games the Stormers play outside of South Africa are against the Blues and the Chiefs ... what's harder? a home or an away game - i'd be more confident of a home win against the Reds than an away win against the Blues.

Also, i'm not saying the Reds, Waratahs, Brumbies etc, aren't good teams, but it's been a while since any Australian team has gone all the way and won the title, so of course they're going to say the Bulls, Crusaders etc.
