Reds vs Bulls

Its always a pleasure to watch the Reds play, Cooper was in a class of his own today

Bulls did much better from the week before, however I disagree with the one commentators comment that the Bulls would have been in a position to win if they were playing any of the other 13 teams, the Crusaders/ Blues Sharls/ Stormers would also have won comfortably. They did better but imo the scoreline did not reflect play, Reds should have won by 15+

The scoreline did end up flattering the Bulls, but it was a phenomenal performance by the Reds.
They had no ambition to play territory rugby; their game plan was to keep the ball in hand and run. Usually this would have been a dangerous move against the Bulls, with a staunch defence, but very rarely did they fail to make the advantage line.
The forwards were setting up a perfect platform, giving Genia an absolute armchair of a ride; and with Genia getting quick recycled balls out to the backs Cooper just had the ability to run riot. They were constantly moving forward, keeping the Bulls edging backwards all the time and Cooper was never short of runners coming off him, hence the reason he very rarely kicked.
Everything he did came off last night, his Hollywood passes, his little jinks, Bulls seemed to fall for them all.
I'm not sure who got man of the match, it should have been Cooper, but there were a handful of boys putting their hands up for that accolade last night.
Wonderful match to watch if you were a Reds fan or a neutral.
Houggard impressed at 9 for the Bulls, but it's been a surprise to see the Bulls back line being so ineffective over the past few games. They just never seemed to pose that much of a threat. Kershner (sp?) at fullback was particularly poor, while the wingers just didn't want to know about the action. It's as if the superior attacking prowess of the reds scared the Bulls backline away from looking for work whenever they had possession.
Morne Steyn was pretty good with his boot as per usual, but they needed more than a boot from him last night. He just couldn't command his troops last night. Yet another poor performance from a team that should be doing much better with their season.

I also enjoyed the first try of Bjorn Basson right from the kick off where he plucked the ball out of the air perfectly to beat 3 or 4 opponents.

Will see if I can upload it to Youtube today or tomorrow.

I didn't even see that try happen :S was texting someone after we scored then heard everyone groaning and was like "Eh?"

Cracking!
Reminds of something Gavin Henson did (though his was from a clearance kick, and he had about 50m to go)

this one?

he never looks like he's running fast but he still manages to beat players.

Great win for the Reds have to admire the fact that they toured from South Africa to comprehensively beat the Bulls in a must win game for the Bulls. The pressure is mounting on my team and it does not get any better if they don’t find form. Glad they played better but still not good enough as pointed out by big Vic.:(

Was a synthesizing try by Basson and brilliant individualism from his part. Hope to see many more tries from this flyer he is really a great talent. I love the way he cover tackles players, beating them with sure passé.:)<O:p</O:p

Just got home from the game, Was fantastic to watch.
Well played Bulls, hope your season gets better from here.

:O you must be kidding???? Bulls play well???? just a question? have the bulls ever play well??? or even the SA boks for that matter???

the bulls play a predictable game plan every !@#!#! match...i can read them like book!!!!

every game a kicking game plan...can't blame them they believe in the kicking game.....the 50/50 kick down field...."the ball is oval...if it bounces its anyone's ball"....

all their flyhalf have been kickers....can't blame them....small boys through the year prob all had their flyhalf in Pretoria as their idols and on their walls...so they want to play like them as well....with kicking....

each game.....territory game....kick out of the 22 play in oposition 22....kick for touch and "RUNNING MAUL"....jesus if i had a penny for everytime they running maul :O

or they kick for posts....how many tries have the backline scored with ball in hand in the last 4 years??? can prob count them....

if Steyn which think is a weak flyhalf if not pathetic....passes the ball....if he passes not when...what happens???

CRASHBALL Olivier :D tuck the ball under his arm and secures the ball for the impact about to take place....he passes once in a blue moon.....

he is always smashing into the defence....once they had an overlap...he did even look..but then again he never does...he just hits the defence.... :O idiot!!!

that guy can't think......he should play flanker...him and Schalk which i think is also pathetic....

the wingers and full back never gets ball in had..because of steyn and olivier....

look at what Basson did when he got ball in hand....instead of chasing a 50/50 kick downfield....

Habana was good a chasing cuz he is just as pathetic...that guys can't play rugby...he can't tackle...he can't think...he can run yes!!!!

look at him now at the stormers....he is worth nothing...why??? cuz now he gets ball in hand and has to think a bit of what to do next.....

the bulls have always, just like most of SA teams and Bokks been "forward play" focussed and use teh backline a last resort....

so you would expect these side to dominate the scrums, lineouts, running mauls, rugs, mauls etc because they are big and physical...and for other teams to struggle

now the bulls are losing lineouts, pathetic mauls, scrums etc.....plus they don't have any bacline play..because they have focussed on teh forwards all these years etc

so tehy are in huge trouble..as i feel the game is evolving to suite the quciker younger players.....and the bulls have old and big heavy players....

lets leave it there...i still have a lot to say :D
