The Stormers draw this season is ridiculously easy.

They don't play any New Zealand teams and get their 3 toughest fixtures at home (Brumbies, Tahs and the Sharks).

WTF?

Holly cow!!! Talk about a walk in the park.

So they basically have 3 tough games this season before the finals. Darkhorse for sure.

They're going to get a home semi that's for sure and a home final if they win that, while all the real better teams cut each others throats. The competition is a farce and heavily SARU favoured.

Well, from a economical view it makes sense. South Africa is the country with the hightest TV rating of the competition and the Stormers is the most popular team of the competition, their average crowd at home games is about 40k or something like that. I'm not sure but I think they are the most popular rugby team in the world.

And, SA doesn't win the competition since 2010, they need help to win again, their performances in the last years haven't been good enough. So, a Stormers victory would be great for the competition on every account.

So by completely rigging the competition in favour of a little bit of extra money produced by a team we get this BS?

Do you see flawed that logic is?

How did South Africa rig the competition? We were the ones who was against the conference system, but John O'Neill and his chronies down unda wanted the conference system.

Now that it's in place, there are complaints that we are the ones that rigged the competition in our favour? Please, provide facts of this.

All we wanted was a 6th team, and that was because of political interference in our country with regards to representation.

Last time I checked, SANZAAR consisted of South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Argentina Rugby (Hence the Acronym) plus Japan... I doubt that we outvoted 3 other Rugby Unions to rig a competition in our favour...

The competition really is some BS. None of the NZ teams have to fall to the Stormers before the play-offs! Rigggedd!!

C'mon, guys we all knew the competition format was BS from the day they announced it didn't we? With the lopsided conference setups it was either gonna be a draw for which NZ and Aus sides a team in a SA conference faces or not or what we have now which is somewhat more 'clean' even though its still BS just so that all teams play an equal amount of games. It does alternate each year (though hopefully the powers that be can come up with a better format sooner rather than later!). Its just poor planning rather than diliberate rigging but yes, for the sake of money and politics.

Does the currnt format favor SA teams? Yes. But I don't have a problem with that. For how many years have we drawn the short end of the stick purely because of geography. About time something goes our way I say LOL. Jst bare with it for a few short years it'll change again before you know it. And don't think for a second the Stormers will win the competition; SA rugby is little more than a development competition for Euro club rugby (and Euro test rugby these dyas if you count the number of SA players in Euro teams; Stander, Strauss x2, Nel and a 1/5 of the French team). Our teams just don't have the experience or depth anymore to make a real stab at a title.

I really don't need to reply to this as Stormer basically covers everything in a rather shameful response.

Heineken's comment was in response to you saying SA rigged the tournament. Stormer's comment doesn't explain the allegations of rigging you speak of. South Africa didn't rig it, we all hate the setup. I would like to see the Stormers playing the New Zealand teams but we can't do anything about it. Hopefully some format changes come in soon.

On the other side of the spectrum though, the guys shafted the most are the Australians. They are competing against the NZ teams for their quarterfinal spots and I think last week 4 of the 5 NZ teams were in playoff positions (the Rebels moved up this week).

Excuse me? Where have I said it's rigged? I have said the competition is a farce, heavily favoured to the SARU and corruption and money talking, which all the SA users here seem to agree with, but apparently have no problem that is favours SA, because apparently in the past they've had it oh so hard.

You said it was rigged in this sentence. The South Africans agree because its pretty obvious that the tournament has been structured in a way to try to maximise the profits. As to it favouring South Africa, it favours half of our teams, the other half have to play against the New Zealand teams and that second place team in that group is always going to struggle to be above the second placed team going up against the Australian teams. As I said previously, there is also a benefit to the New Zealand teams in the current structure. But this isn't in the best interest of what the fans want to see.

'Coincidental' the top SA team last year is dealt with the easiest draw in the competitions history.

The draw is random. So yes, coincidental. At the start of the season the Stormers were rated as the third best team going into the tournament from South Africa.

Allegations of rigging are laughable.

Yes, we have an easy draw. Next year not even if in the last few years we've tended to do better against NZ sides than Aussie ones. The format is BS but what are we fans or the Stormers staff/players supposed to do about it?

Just keep calm. before you know it (relatively speaking of course) we'll have a decent format again I'm sure of it.

Do you honestly think anyone over here likes the fact we aren't facing NZ sides?

Our South African friends have this right, its just the way the draw works out

New Zealanders, of all rugby fans, should understand that having an easy draw in a tournament, is no guarantee of success.

The draws a joke, this isn't a personal attack on the fans but heavy criticism at those running it, I really don't feel like acknowledging or congratulating the Stormers for a home play-off spot now. I really feel quite bitter about it after the NZ conference is a complete slog and cut throat, then to look over the Ocean and see this nonsense. Remember the same debacle last year, the Crusaders finished above the Stormers on points and the Stormers still got into the play-offs, always getting "favours" coincidentally or not.

1.Hurricanes 66pts
2.Waratahs 52pts
3.Stormers 45pts
4.Highlanders 53pts.
5.Chiefs 48pts
6.Brumbies 47pts
7.Crusaders 46pts

Stormers shouldn't have featured let alone getting a home QF, Highlanders should have had a home semi-final. But what ever.
2.

The competitions format is beyond bad.
