Why don't we just make our own rugby game

Not brushing it off. But this thread is full of some pretty optimistic and wishful thinking, including specifically how social media could be easily leveraged by seemingly just making a string of "funny" posts. So, I'll just put this out there again - if it was easy to leverage other game...

Why don't we just make our own rugby game

It looks from the outside like an easy and cheap form of marketing, but Facebook for example limits the reach of any post you make to a fraction of your audience and makes you pay to reach more than that. You might have 1 million followers of a particular page, but you regular posts are only...

Why don't we just make our own rugby game

The reason is the market for rugby games is actually nowhere near as big as you think. You praise EA for an iterative approach while admonishing rugby game developers for doing the same. In any case, if there was meaningful money to be made making rugby games then EA would be making them...

Why don't we just make our own rugby game

Newsletter and this thread brought me back too. How hard could it be? Super hard. Rugby games are about the most complicated sports game you can make, with a market size that can't support a budget the same level as top tier sports games, but with a fan base that demands that level of...

RC and RC2 had a career/franchise mode. And as I said, that would be one of the areas I would continue to work on. We never held any licenses. HES holds them.

We anticipated RC2 would be our last (at least by the end), so we didn't have a formal plan for RC3 within the studio. Personally, I would have totally overhauled conversions, continued working on passing dynamics, expanded set plays, more options and work around network multiplayer, reducing...

A lot of it just comes down to complexity. Rugby is complex in that at any given time the ball carrier can run, pass, or kick in any direction, while the large numbers of players on both sides need to react to that moment to moment, through the lens of the rules of rugby, moment to moment...

Really depends. Can take 3 to 4 weeks to get through submission and then, assuming you pass submission and don't need to resubmit, it usually takes another 3-4 weeks to manufacture and distribute depending on the infrastructure and relationships of the publisher. Factoring in they are trying...

Rugby challenge 2: The lions tour edition announced

At some point, probably, but I can't speak any more on licenses and the nature of them at this stage.

Thanks, but all the stats, players, and lineups are all already locked down.

Having a speed stat which is half that of another player doesn't mean that player is only half as fast. That would only be the case if setting the players speed to 0 or 1 meant they pretty much couldn't move.

A must for the next rugby ***le

I believe the iOS version actually uses baked out animations, not a realtime physics solution. I'm fairly confident there will be news on that soon.

A must for the next rugby ***le

You are getting confused. Endorphin is not the same as Euphoria. Endorphin is an animation tool, used for creating physics based simulated animations to be rendered offline. Euphoria is a realtime, ingame physics based animation simulation engine as used in Backbreaker. Endorphin would add...

    Sidhe's Rugby Challenge

The patch is out. The default offload settings have not changed, but there are both global sliders as well as team tactics sliders that you can alter to both reduce the number of offloads and the chance of their success if you wish.
