I like Quinnell; I think he's quality and just comes across as a someone you can have a beer with. I much prefer him to Jonathan Davies on the BBC. Barnes comes across as a sanctimonious prick in his commentaries; so I can understand why the majority of Rugby fans can't stand him. Greenwood is the best pundit on Sky by a mile imo and I don't understand why they don't replace Barnes with him.
Anyone is better than Jiffy but Scott tends to say what he thinks other people would like to hear (like Morris) rather than have a deeply thought opinion, like Healey, or about every facet of the game like Greenwood, Ryan, Kay or even Dallaglio.........except when he is actually commentating rather than discussing and his voice drives me nuts!!

Will Greenwood is excellent. Him and Scott make a brilliant team. Very fair and always looking for the positives in a game. It's not very often you find a good set of pundits like that in any sport.
Jiffy even gets to me sometimes and I am Welsh! His passion for Wales stops him from being the objective commentator that he is suppose to be.

It wouldn't be so bad is he wasn't condescending about the other countries though.
I don't mind Quinnell and Greenwood's enthusiasm is infectious but Barnes and Morris just annoy me to high heaven.
The game against the All Blacks is a case in point. By the way those two Berks were gassing, I would have thought England were 30 points down! New-to-rugby girlfriend was exclaiming "for f*cks sake, they keep taking up the other side! Why aren't they backing England?!"
With Barnes and morris it is ALWAYS a case of the other team having an off day instead of England being great. Always.
It's also the little *****y remarks. Like Barrits try and Barnes remarked at
Tuilagi's offload "oh and a bit of fortune for Tuilagi there.." bet you anything if the all blacks scored a mirror image of that try all you'd hear would be the sound of heavy breathing and the thumping of a hand against the underside of the table.
So usually, if I hear a Celt in a bar who is moaning about perceived English arrogance in rugby, I just play Stuart Barnes commentary really loudly until they shut up. Tis the ultimate answer to any accusation of arrogance!

You forget, to a Celt England merely has to turn up to the game to be arrogant. Woe betide we say we might just have the tiniest chance of actually winning something. Also saying the other team is having an off day means we think we are better than them and therefore we are arrogant.
