If Someone has a better Lions logo, please assist in correcting it.

As tight as I think the Sharks vs Bulls clash is going to be I think this one is going to be full of running, line breaks, tries as well as missed tackles.

The Cheetahs just have more class in key places and some semblance of defence (plus home advantage) so I'll go Cheetahs by 38 to 25.

Very excited to see Goosen back. Hope he goes well this year and actually gets some time with the Bokke.

I am reserving my predictions until I see the teams announced.

But I have to agree with you. Especially after the Sharks demolition job on the Lions this past weekend. I think they have a bit of catching up to do with the other teams that were in the Super Rugby tournament last year.

And I'm equally glad to see Goosen back. I just hope he got some muscle and doesn't get injured again.

Cheetahs
Willie le Roux, Cornal Hendricks, Johann Sadie, Francois Venter, Raymond Rhule, Johan Goosen, Shaun Venter, Philip van der Walt, Lappies Labuschagne, Boom Prinsloo, Francois Uys, Lood de Jager, Coenie Oosthuizen, Adriaan Strauss (captain), Caylib Oosthuizen.
Replacements: Ryno Barnes, Trevor Nyakane, Maks van Dyk, Ligtoring Landman, Jean Cook, Sarel Pretorius, Elgar Watts, Rayno Benjamin.

That is a line-up that'll cause fireworks and against the Lions... I am thinking of adding 14 points to the Cheetahs for my prediction. Hopefully they can retain the improved defense we saw last year. They lost their defense coach to the Kings of all teams. Hope it doesn't cost them but Drotske said he was confident that they can continue as last year as the structures are in place.. only time will tell if that's the case and how much they'll miss Rob Ebersohn who was a pretty key player last year. Venter is no mampara though even though he is still young.

Looking forward to seeing what kind of impact Nyakane, Pretorius and especially Jean Cook can make off the bench.

I just hope Willie Le Roux keeps up his form from last season he was on fire and was a joy to watch, I so happy SR is on its way back (even if it is only SA teams)

ok wow I have no idea how I posted it in this thread haha! was obviously meant for the NZ thread...

Brad Shields out for 6-8 weeks with an mcl

shame, I thought this was going to be his year

While it is certainly disappointing for Shields I was unaware he had transferred to the Cheetahs ;)

Pretty strong looking Cheetahs side. Bit surprised Pretorius isn't starting at halfback. Is this a tactical move, or is Venter rated above him?

I remember reading in an interview with Drotske (can't remember the source) that one of the things he said was that losing Piet van Zyl has been negated by Shaun Venter shining in their training sessions and showing a lot of promise with their game plan so while Pretorius has had some of his best games off the bench or on the wing probably its a bit of both would be my guess.

Shaun Venter played pretty well for the Kings last year, and my guess is that he's a better all round scrum half, and defensively better than Pretorius.

But with that said, I think Naka is taking a page out of HM's book with having a very explosive bench to come on after 60 minutes and finish the game strongly.

Decent enough starting XV everything considered.

Jaco Kriel , 5. Franco van der Merwe , 4. Franco Mostert , 3. Julian Redelinghuys , 2. Robbie Coetzee , 1. Schalk van der Merwe
Replacements : 16. Willie Wepener , 17. Jacques van Rooyen , 18. Ruan Dreyer , 19. Willie Britz , 20. Warwick Tecklenburg , 21. Faf de Klerk , 22. Coenie van Wyk , 23. Alwyn Hollenbach

Needs Stokkies Hanekom at 12 and that front row... I think the Stormers C team front row would be more intimidating.

Hello my beautiful people, I have returned from my mysterious abcess or is it absence? and I am back to cheer all you stodgy ******** up.

Cheetahs by 12 at least.

Willie to be the demon we know he is and to have his magic hand in at least all of the tries.

I just hope Goosen doesn't get bloody injured. Give him mieliepap and protein shakes please!

You live in South Africa? :o

No, still Belgium for the moment. I used to live in NZ in the Chiefs region (way back, before they actually won championships) but the Cheetahs are my favorite SA rugby team. I also have lots of mates who support the Bloem so we will watch the game at my place, hence the food and drinks.
