What's the craic with a player getting banned for the rest of the tournament? Do they have to continue with a 30 man squad or are they allowed a replacement?

I have found this extremely difficult to find out. There is no mention of it in the Tournament Rules

AIUI, once teams have named their 31 man squad, a player can only be replaced for medical or compassionate reasons, and once that happens the replacement is permanent.
