App vs web view

I just got a tablet and after installing a couple apps for other sites discovered I prefer the traditional web view by going to the site via URL rather than app. So, what is the benefit of the apps?

I suppose some apps give you notifications about things, and some personalised features. I'm the same as you though preferring the browser when reading up online. I do use an app for Reddit and this site though. Also video based sites are much more tidy on apps than through the browser.
