Any simple minded ****wit who thinks that that phrase makes anything even loosely resembling some kind of sense needs to be put to the cattle gun.

I cannot stand it.

Well... precisely.

People calling his dive "the Ash Splash" is fine... people calling Chris himself "Ash The Splash" is monumentally irritating.

Good to get that one off the chest?

I've never heard it used outside of his ****ty looking diving finish as "the ash splash".

Though to be honest I hate anything like that. Nehe Milner-Skudder has incredibly good footwork. Doesn't mean I want to hear Justin Marshall try and coin phrases like "Skudder-Step". No, it's just a nice side step.

Ever more painful is listening to American commentators try and coin phrases to do with rugby. "Perry Baker the touch-down maker"....shut up.

Didnt he do a splash once against Italy which an Italian player took exception too? and during the handbags Toby Flood said the offended Italian "yes we know hes a ****"

Cannot find it on youtube but it defo happened, a couple of journlists picked up on it as it was around the time Manu gave him a couple of slaps

Hardly consistent unless it was reduced for good disciplinary record?

I suppose we have to be thankful that he was punished accordingly with the 6n round the corner.....some credibility restored!

"The official determined that the offence was at the low end of World Rugby's sanctions and selected a 2-week ban.

He then added one week as a deterrent, according to World Rugby guidelines regarding offences of this nature, before reducing the sanction by three weeks due to Ashton's good character and good conduct, but then adding 10 weeks for Ashton being widely recognised as a cnut."

In seriousness though, what does everyone think of his ban? I think he's a **** but can't help feeling bad for him, getting banned just as he gets back into the setup.

Utterly deserved. Don't deliberately put your hands in another player's face for no reason, it's not news that gets you in trouble and the reason is if you're unlucky you can seriously hurt them.

Granted, I don't like him and am overjoyed he's done (barring an appeal) for this 6N (and hopefully forever), but the ban itself is an open and shut case.

He's supposed to be a grown up ffs

I feel little sympathy for Ashton in exactly the same way I have never felt sorry for Hartley when an indiscretion rules him out of some awesome opportunity or another. Some people just have a flaw that runs through them that they can't change. In this incident Ashton moved from a position of safety to one where he quite deliberately targets the players head. Not it may not be malicious but it certainly is reckless and to be seems to be a pretty bloody stupid thing to do. Especially when the tackle was play was effectively concluded and the payer he targeted was in touch.

Stupidity has consequences. Chris is stupid. To jump on the latest bandwagon don't be like Chris.

He straight up grabbed the guy around the face and tried to throw him to the floor by his head... not sure what made him think he would get away scot free.
