AUNZ Invitational XV v British & Irish Lions

Great to see it’s not let go like commentary were implying not a lot in it, nice to see it not being outcome based, Morgan went with it dynamically so luckily no injury plenty of those clear outs have and do cause far more serious injuries.

Brilliant game for the lions even Faz looked handy off the bench, game was done etc but with the amount of rugby he’s played it was difficult to gauge, a long shot away from the best option but looks like he could do a job if circumstances require it. Really impressed with white, hasn’t taken him any time to get upto speed, especially given he didn’t have FR outside him, Pollocks effort to continue the pressure resulting in a try considering the context of the game already being run says a lot about his mentality.

I think they'll go with all that except Beirne for VDF, who just looks a bit tired
I think Josh has looked his usual self to be honest. Rarely the rollovers that he excels in because he's not called on to carry as much. I think Farrell had him lined up to bench from the start though and let one of Curry or Morgan (definitely Morgan now) to absolutely empty themselves for 45-50 mins.

I'd go:

Genge, Sheehan, Furlong, Itoje, McCarthy, Chessum, Morgan, Conan, JGP, Russell, Lowe, Tuipuluto, Ringrose (likely Jones due to injury), Freeman, Keenan

Porter, Kelleher, Bealham, Beirne, VdF (I'd go Morgan but 8 cover needed), Mitchell (tempted by White but don't think his box kicking is there), M Smith, Kinghorn (Jones or Aki if injured)

No real 8 cover but I find it hard to justify Earl or Pollock over those backrows. I'd trust VdF or Morgan in there as a makeshift too, they're ball players.

Unless Keenan has a near MOTM performance I'd bring Kinghorn in for tests 2 and 3, Ringer in as soon as he's fit, Aki to start one of the three. Wouldn't be worried about any of the injury cover either.

Would have said Morgan myself but Earl was good
I’d agree with that, can’t be upset about either I actually can’t think of a starter who you’d consider anonymous or without notable moments, it was very much a complete team 80 minutes, maybe minus the odd minute, that’s probably reflected by not conceding.

I don't think Conan has been stellar on tour, he's just shown the benefit of a bigger body in in the tighter stuff. Earl and Morgan very versatile Earl more so. I think all the backrow options thst played today have been good all tour. Curry has had a disappointing one.

As an aside from a Leinster / Ireland pov, I hope Ryan Baird is watching and seething. His current form very well could have got him that 6 jersey but he was anonymous the first three months of the year when it mattered.

Don't think he's that type of person though unfortunately.
