Canadian International CT/FB Matt Evans has signed today with Cornish Pirates, and will be joining the club after the Canadian Sevens team competes at the Pan Am games next Saturday. Evans was formerly with the Newport Gwent Dragons organization and mostly spent time in the Welsh Premiership. The move is mainly as an injury cover for Wes Davies who was knocked out of action last week.

This is also an excellent time for me to post a link to what is a must read blog for Canadian Rugby fans and followers, Jeff Hull has been writing the Canadian Pro Report for several years now and his articles are frequently used on Rugby Canada and other rugby sites as well he has his own home page at the following link

he was truly dismal in his match for the Dragons last season

I had not seen the match but heard from others that it was a shocker and that he didn't get back into the main club, his work in the Welsh Premiership was better, I actually like him at Centre more than at Fullback, but many would disagree with that.

yes, that's exactly what happened, had a very poor match early season against Glasgow and then I didn't see him play again

Great to see him going there as he will have the chance to develop into a better player. Its highly likely that he´ll be Canada´s fullback at the next World Cup and may even be the flyhalf. He was poor at the newport Gwent Dragons but, to be fair, was not given enough opportunities. The coaches showed no faith in him after one bad performance.

He really wasn't great for Newport during the season either. Despite Martyn Thomas' injury, they still felt that Harries was a better option at fullback for the Dragons.
