Group of death.

Fix, imo.
Group of death my arse, already 2-0 up in Betis with the reserve team out. [/b]
Good win that. We really need to beat Chelsea though.

Well not really it was always going to be Liverpool and Chelsea to come out of that group, and Chelsea proved last year that topping your group doesn't always do you a favour.

Incidentally, Joaquin showed just how good he was for long spells last night, and he isn't even 100% fit. Get it sorted Rafa.

UEFA Champions League
AC Milan 3 - 1 Fenerbahce
Artmedia Bratislava 0 - 1 Inter Milan
Chelsea 1 - 0 Anderlecht
Lyon 3 - 0 Real Madrid
Olympiacos 1 - 3 Rosenborg
PSV 1 - 0 Schalke 04
Rangers 3 - 2 FC Porto
Real Betis 1 - 2 Liverpool

Great entertainment from the boy Rooney last night, absolute quality. Undoubtedly a major talent but christ he's thick as well.

Plenty of other sendings off as well, Van Persie was unlucky but in real time the decision is understandable, and Vieira finished off his first CL match with Juve in fine style.

Good on the referee for standing up to fatty!

My Swiss team of choice nearly came through. It's a shame they couldn't just hang on for the point.
<

they wouldn't have deserved it though, Arsenal were by far the better team. Does show Arsenal's failings though at this level they're unable to beat teams as easily as they manage in the premiership. Wenger will really need to bring someone in over Christmas if they're to get to the serious knock out stages.

Arsenal need another 15-20 goal a season striker, and as close to a replacement for Vieira as they can get.

Oooops, forgot to keep this updated haven't I?

I smell a pathetic attempt to try and get the soccer threads as big as the superior NFL one.

How about Shevchenko, first player to score 4 goals in a champions league game was it? Or was it in an away Champions League game? Either way this guy's quality. it's suprising he isn't mentioned in the best player in the world arguments, he's been scoring crackers for years.

The NFL thread is full of Mike Vick shitfights. It's gets boring after a while!

Can't wait for the CL quarter finals. There are no shite teams like Depor, Prague or Moscow involved.

I think Marco Van Basten scored 4 against Gothenborg in the 92/93 campaign, although that was in the San Siro so maybe you're right about the away thing.

Either way quality, Shevchenko is a class act.

Shevchenko has long been one of the best strikers in Europe. I'll forget his miss in extra time and his penalty miss in Istanbul
<

Stalemate at the Bridge tonight leaves Chelsea with a most likely tougher challenge of getting through to the quarter finals, although overcoming Barcelona was impressive enough last year, we may well see a repeat matchup when the draw is made for the last 16, wouldn't UEFA love that.

Milan through as well after seeing off a stubborn Shalke side, they top their group as well so another potential opponent for Chelsea, or Man Utd when they get through.

Can't see Inter having a serious say at this stage, although when you've some of the quality they have they could damage the hopes of a serious challenger, Real or Chelsea wouldn't be overly happy with a tie with them.

Will be interesting if Houllier can build on the Lyon performances of recent years and turn them into a serious contender for the ***le.

Pity that only a few groups have gone down to the wire, does make the whole group stage a bit boring, wish UEFA would listen to me and go back to a 2 leg last 32 and then have a group stage, that'd be far more interesting, unfortunately it'd be pretty hard to fit 16 boxes on a tv screen, so they'd have to play the last 32 over 2 weeks.

i thought that youre still not allowed to play someone from youre country till the qf.

I spoke too soon, Rangers are in.

Well however **** their group was, Rangers won't get passed any of the other group winners, no need to worry there.

Doesn't say much for Man Utd when they go out but the likes of Rangers go through. Bet Fergie is loving that.

Draw for the last 16 and knock out stages takes place on Friday.
