Why?

We were finishing in the top 3 year after year with Smith in charge. Considering he managed to bring in our most successful imports of recent years, Reihana and Robinson, I don't see any reason why he would have left when he did for anything other than the All Black spot.

What sinking ship? We were top 3 in the country when he left. We'd probably still be there now were he still in charge.

He left because he was offered the opportunity of being a coach of his nation, not because the club was on the decline.

hes one of two assistant coaches.
its widely known that Hansen will take over from Henry if the all blacks win the RWC.

if they dont win it then Robbie Deans will take over. either way... he was never going to be the All Black coach.

he obviously left because he wasnt happy.... probably not with the club.. as youve stated they were pretty good under him. more then likely being away from home. alot of kiwi coaches end up coming back home for the family lifestyle.
