Had a teammate get a depressed factor above the steepest, so swollen that we couldn't see his eye as he was airlifted to the local major hospital.

So my question, can you wear a protective facemask in Union?

Just read that back..... iPhone auto correct!! I meant 'depressed fracture above the eye'

If you are talking about one of those hockey ones, no. Even those little plastic/ other ones wouldn't be allowed.

In fact, whilst I am sure there is a law against these things, it should be unecessary as playing with any kind of facial injury is a bit daft, all that will be done is it will be compounded.

In short, no. ;)
Best of luck to his recovery

Your right, just type in 'Harinordequy facemask' into google and hot loads of pictures. The mask he is wearing looks heavily strapped in order to add padding, it probably was (and in this case) the case of having it agreed by the league.

My mate won't be playing for months, if he does this season, and he might not have to wear any protection I was just interested
