If anybody here knows much about the foam roller I would be grateful.

I've read what the adverts say on them. But I would like to know an independent opinion on whether they work well loosening tight muscles.

Thanks in advance.

I use them before and (sometimes) after my training sessions. I like them but seen as I've always used them I can't tell any different. My strength and conditioning coach is real keen on them and he knows his stuff.

Not too much info but I hope it helps.

I've got one and used to use it all the time for lactic acid build up in calves and quads. The problem is i used it all the time when i first got it but now not so much, still get the aches but using the foam roller properly does take a lot of effort.

Its better than stretching BUT if you don't really make time to stretch you won't make time to use the foam roller (which is my problem).

Use it to warm up and it's better than normal stretching for a warm up as stretching tightens muscles. I think it's good for preventing injuries and find it works well.

Yup, I use mine before and after big training sessions.
Will use it a couple of times a day for a bit after a big session, if my muscles are pretty far gone, as well.
Works well.

Thanks for the information.

I'll try and look for one tomorrow. I've been told tight muscles may be causing me pain in the knee, so hopefully this will help prevent that a bit.
