Former Bristol chief Richard Hill looks set for a return to English rugby with Worcester Warriors.
Hill has spent the past season coaching Racing Club Chalonais in the French third division, leading the side to the play-offs.
However he now appears set to replace Mike Ruddock as director of rugby at Sixways after beating off competition from the likes of Dean Ryan and Steve Diamond for the post.
The Warriors have organised a press conference for Thursday afternoon when Hill is likely to be officially confirmed in the role.
Hill will be charged will leading Worcester back into the Guinness Premiership after they finished bottom of the table this season.
The 49-year-old certainly has the pedigree Worcester's owner Cecil Duckworth is looking for, having guided Bristol to promotion in 2005.
With the emergence of the likes of Shaun Perry and Dan Ward-Smith, Bristol went on to finish third in the table in 2007 despite possessing one of the smallest playing budgets.
Unfortunately the gulf in money eventually told for Bristol in 2009 as they were relegated - with Hill relieved of his duties towards the end of the season.
Despite the manner of his departure, Hill's reputation has remained intact, though, with the former England scrum-half enjoying a relatively successful season in France.
He guided the tiny Racing Club Chalonais into the play-offs only to lose out St Etienne in a two-legged quarter-final encounter.
Hill began his coaching career at Gloucester before spells at Harlequins, England Students, Ebbw Vale and Newport.
