Stormers captain Jean de Villiers, who was carried off strapped to a stretcher on Saturday during the Super 14 match against the Sharks at Newlands, will be back on the field soon.

He was taken to hospital on Saturday as a precautionary measure but discharged later.
"I have spoken to the doctor and he has reassured me that it is nothing serious. Jean will be playing again as soon as he feels comfortable.

"We don't know yet how long he will be out, but he was just taken to hospital as precaution and the tests were also precautionary," Stormers manager Frikkie Erasmus told the official Stormers website on Sunday.

"He is stiff and sore but other than that it is nothing serious. It is definitely not concussion and he suffered more from whiplash. We will be monitoring his situation during the week," said Erasmus.

De Villiers took a heavy knock to the head just after halftime. He was stretchered off and taken to hospital immediately with what seemed a serious neck injury and it was feared that he would be out for a long time.[/b]

Great news :bravo: :bravo: :bravo:

I would let JDV sit out the Reds game this friday just to give him enough time to recupperate thoroughly and let him be 100% for the Blues and Bulls games.

I'm torn between letting him sit out the game and letting him play, I don't want him to get out of the groove of being the captain and getting actual game time with his team, but then again Nakalevuki is a good enough replacement for this match, I don't want to see Jean worsen anything.

W.e the choice is though, it's awesome he's ok. :D

I really don't rate Nakalevuki that highly, I would rather put Monty along side Bobo in the centers

I like Nakalevuki, he creates a lot of space by getting 3 or 4 defenders on him a lot of the time, offloads the ball and then you've got a nice big overlap going.

He did it a lot during the currie cup.

Very good news indeed, I think Jean might just want to play this weekend. From the video footage it looked more like a nasty bash of one of his own players' knees into his head and the whiplash didn't look too bad, who knows...I for one hope the Stormers get their captain back asap
