Haven't seen a thread like it so as the title suggests who do you think will be the key man for your country at the world cup?

Hartley is going to be pretty central to England I'd imagine. As hooker he has the potential to define how our set piece goes, which in turn lets everyone else do their thing
Also, if Flood finds his form again he's clearly going to be important to the running of the team.
Aside from that, we're obviously going to be looking to Foden to make line breaks and turn up the pace of the game.

I'm sorry but you'll have to find out eventually Hartely isn't exactly good so don't expect too much.

And how many accounts have you registered so far?

I'm everyone else. ;)Also what does that have to do with Hartley's ability. I understand you feel protective of him since he's your club captain and national's team hooker but I and not an inconsiderable amount of people think he's not that great.

I wasn't saying he's the best. I'm saying that he'll be key.
In the sense that he can make or break our game.
Was that not what you were asking? Whose efforts will be the most central to the team performance?

Yeah it is sorry I got a bit angry don't like anything that even sounds like a suggestion that he's good. Sorry that is the question and I'd like people to return to answering it.

This thread has 'who's your best player' written all over it. I shall abstain I think...
Aye, that's what Magicman is trying to turn it into, but it shouldn't be

I think iWin has it right,
Hartley performing will be key, as if your hooker goes bad then that's the setpieces f***ed

Youngs/Care as well, will be key - They can both play very well, but can both do cracking Harry Ellis impressions as well (and youngs can do a great Mauro Bergamasco when the mood takes him too....)
Flood can be good, but you can replace with steady-yet-often-boring Wilko, or potentially Hodgson if he tours

HHHHMMMMMMM do think as a complete unit, probably our starting front 3. Adam Jones, Mathew Rees and Gethin Jenkins are most definetly key for us :D :D Saying that i'm expecting a big tournament from Shane, as he says his "goodbye" to the international scene. End of an era :( :( :(

For Romania, Daniel Carpo will be a player to watch. He has done extremely well for both the national team and Stejarii Bucharest in the Challenge Cup lately, I don't know how no foreign club hasn't noticed him yet.

Mike Ross is now a key part of Ireland. Its amazing to think he has gone from a player who hadn't even played a 6 nations game to a pivotal part of Ireland's set piece. Without him we have no prop that is even Heineken cup standard anymore and if he is out of form or unavailable our scrum will fall to pieces meaning our chances of reaching the semis and considerably lowered. I also think Heaslip will be a key figure as he offers so much and his game plan is so effective. He has a great rugby brain and leadership skills. On form he is one of if not the best no.8 in the world and he is very hard for opposition to figure out because he is not a traditional brutal 8, he is now a link man and athlete with great breakdown, lineout and running skills.

I think your right. When Ross plays well the team have a platform. When the team have a platform, Heaslip plays well. And when Heaslip plays well we usually win. :p
