Leicester Tigers are close to making Gloucester centre Anthony Allen the latest addition to next season's squad.

The twice-capped England player would take Tigers' new signings for the 2009-10 campaign to four.

Nottingham hooker Joe Duffey, Newcastle Falcons lock Geoff Parling and Bedford midfielder Billy Twelvetrees have already agreed deals to join Tigers.

Allen, 22, is out of contract at Gloucester as he comes to the end of his fourth season at Kingsholm.

He has made 89 appearances for the club and I understand he is set to make the switch to Welford Road.

He joined Gloucester in 2005, was the fans' young player of the season in 2006-07, and forced his way into the England team, winning caps in the defeats by New Zealand and Argentina.

He missed two months of this season through injury after the defeat by Leicester on the opening day of the campaign but he is now back on song.

If Leicester can secure his services, he will provide competition for Aaron Mauger and add to a youthful-looking Tigers backline.[/b]
