Don't normally feel the need to bag on referees... but after watching the Gloucester/Munster match I really feel the need to.

I haven't re-watched the game so I can't cite any specific examples, but he was making decisions at the scrum that he clearly did not understand.
He should be glad that he wasn't asked to explain any of them.

I've heard mumblings that he's bad in the PRO12... is he?

From his Wiki entry:

He also refereed the Italy vs Fiji in 2013 where he dished out 6 yellow cards, 5 to Fiji and 1 to Italy setting a new world record in number of yellow cards shown to a team during a game to 5 so, in his four games to date as referee, he has dished out 2 reds and 12 yellow cards. Fiji Rugby Union lodged a complaint regarding this to the IRB.

I've only seen him once but I thought his refereeing of the breakdown left a lot to be desired to put it nicely

I've got mixed feelings on Hodges. He deals with players very well and is generally clear and concise, but prone to errors or bizarre judgements. He is, however, still a relatively young and inexperienced ref- it'll take time, and gigivng him internationals and Heineken Cup game helps with that.

Unimpressive in the Sarries/Connacht game yesterday too.

Allowed himself to be controlled/influenced by Borthwick and subsequently the entire Sarries team.
Nigel Owens needs to have a word with him.

Bottled it on the

Nathan White should have been shown

for that face rake on Brad Barritt.

Not my favorite at present was a bottle on red card some of his front row pen calls seem to be guess work and what's with the Adolf Hitler hair cut.
