I am not letting this fantastic man pass on without a thread on TRF. RIP Leslie Nielsen, one of the funniest men I've ever had the fortune to witness on my television.

RIP.

I share your feelings on this guys. His comedic acting wasn't all script like some actors. His expressions, his hilarious gravelly loud insistent voice was always a sign you were about to hear something absurd.

He really is perhaps one of the most under-rated comedic actors of all time, as I never hear people referring to him as a comedy great as you sometimes hear said about the likes of Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, Mike Myers or Jim Carrey. I mean they are all different types of comedians, but praise and acclaim always seemed insufficient for the talents Leslie Nielsen had.

Olyy, the line about sniffing glue was Lloyd Bridges I think?

I never understood the comparisson with Steve Martin, unless of course every white haired male has to be the same person. (for that matter I never found Steve Martin even slightly amusing, but I'll leave that for now).

I was genuinely upset to hear this yesterday, as a kid I always adored his movies (even his 'lesser' films like "Spy Hard"). Like another piece of my child hood has gone. :(

Ah God, Spy Hard is quality

"I'm going in!"
"But...that's crazy!"
"No, crazy is walking down the street with half a cantaloupe on your head, muttering "I'm a hamster, I'm a hamster.""

Wrongfully Accused appeared to be deliberately bad, it was funny/bad for that reason alone.

Still you can't beat his Naked Gun Series and Police Squad. Although I do have a soft spot for the lunacy of Repossessed.

Really funny guy, he'll be missed. Not big on the Scary Movie series, but I think he made the third one -

I had forgotten all about that part of the film. There's so many times when people type lol on the net, but thhis time I literally was laughing out loud. No-one can deliver lines like that now, no-one. He makes the likes of Robin Williams and Steve Martin look okay comedians who really can't deliver lines or hold the right facial expressions.
