Now RFU wants George Burgess

The RFU aren't involved at all.

That said, this is vveerryy interesting. I think George has a higher top level than Sam (in League at least) and is an absolute f'cking machine.

Interesting, very interesting.

But, as Olly says, the RFU acronym shouldn't be mentioned anywhere in relation to this. They don't, and won't, have anything to do with his move.

What?

Putting my tin-foil hat on: this could be the Aussie media trying to put pressure on the NRL to bring in a marque player rule on the back of Sam Burgess and Jarryd Hayne's defection.

Cant see it myself. Most would agree that from a league point of view he is a monster hitting the ball up. You only have to look at some of the tries he's scored past (or running through and over) very good defensive players. But unlike Sam, George is a league prop through and through.
Where would he fit in within the union game. Back Row has obviously been mentioned and that is no doubt the only position suitable but where. Could not be an blind side and you would argue it would take a hell of a lot of re-training for open side leaving number 8? Cannot see it myself. Besides George is just coming into his own and having had by far his best season so far, I think with Sam now gone he will thrown into the limelight at South's.
Still heavily contracted there and cant see him leaving anytime soon.

George would make a great 8 - arguably what he does in RL translates far more directly that what Sam does.

But as you say - he isn't moving any time soon.

Why could he not be a blind side flanker? IMO that would seem to be his best fit. Granted I haven't seen that many games of his, just a couple matches and a few highlight reels but he seems like he could be a bash em style, physical blindside in the mold of Willem Alberts or Mamuka Gorgodze.
