What a whopping victory for the Brumbies, Barnes got ruled out off the game just before the start, the commentators just went on and on about how the Reds are struggling without him, is he the only one that can play rugby then in the reds team or what?I mean they still have guys like Cooper, Hynes, Ioane, Horwill ect...
One player doesn't make the team or does it...?
The Reds have only beaten the Brumbies once and that was way back in 2000. The overall Super Rugby stats are Played 14, Brumbies won 13, Reds won 1.
That's just the kind of challenge the 2009 class of Reds would seem to thrive on.
Last five results
2008 Brumbies won 11-43 in Canberra
2007 Brumbies won 3-6 in Brisbane
2006 Brumbies won 0-36 in Canberra

2004 Brumbies won 8-51 in Canberra

Match detail
We are waiting for the kick off. We have just been informed that the Reds have just suffered a big blow in that Berrick Barnes will not be able to play for the Reds today. That's a big blow.
1.00: The Brumbies kick off and the match is underway.
2.00: The Reds put together 10 phases but then there is an intercept but we are called back for offside.
3.00: Quade Cooper takes the penalty kick and slots it.
7.00: Adam Ashely Cooper gets good ball on the wing but as he is tackled he loses the ball and the Reds pick up the ball and run it back at the Brumbies.
11.00: The Brumbies get a penalty so Stirling Mortlock takes the kick and slots it to level the scores.
17.00: The Brumbies start to get their game plan flowing by working through the phases. Fairbanks uses the grubber kick and sets up a Reds line out in the Reds 25.
20.00: The Brumbies get the overlap and Toomua passes to Fairbanks but the pass goes to ground and the try goes begging. The Brumbies have spent 96% of the last five minutes in the Reds half.
23.00: The Brumbies finally get the breakthrough as Gene Fairbanks dives low for the line and under the tackle to score the Brumbies first try.
23. Stirling Mortlock adds the conversion.
27.00: Digby Ioane has one of his trademark sniping runs which with the support catches the Brumbies off side so the Reds get a penalty. They choose to go for the line out so when they could easily have gone for posts. They win the line out but the ball pops out the back of the ruck and the Brumbies pounce on it.
30.00: The Brumbies send the ball down field. The Reds then go through a couple of phases and then boot it back into Brumbies territory.
33.00: The Brumbies catch the Reds defence being a little lazy which allows Stephen Hoiles to bust through and score the second try for the Brumbies.
34.00: Stiling Mortlock adds the conversion again.
37.00: Peter Kimlin scores a dead easy try as he runs about 8 m in untouched.
38.00:Stirling Mortlock takes the conversion and slots it.
39.58: Will Genia busts through two tackles after the Reds string together six phases and scores the Reds first try. We go upstairs to check. It's good.
40.00: Quad Cooper takes the converison kick and misses from in front of the posts.
Its half time.
The half time score was Reds 8 Brumbies 24
The second half is underway.
42.00: The Reds have brought on Ben Lucas in order to try and make up for the loss of Berrick Barnes who injured his groin in the warm up.
42.00: The Reds get a free kick in the Brumbies half so they choose to scrum.
44.00: Will Genia picks up the ball off the back of a ruck and simple darts through and under the Brumbies to score the Reds second try.
45.00: Quade Cooper takes the conversion and misses. Pretty badly.
47.00: Ben Alexander gets the ball about 10m out. He puts his head down and keeps his legs pumping until he reaches the line where he scores the Brumbies bonus point try.
49.00: Mortlock converts the try.
54.00: The Reds are in this game a lot more in the second half. It could be that the Brumbies have scored the bonus point try and expect to win but they will have to watch out.
55.00: Matt Toomua comes off for the Brumbies injured. Will Genia gets some attention on the field. Francis Fainifo comes on for Toomua.
56.00: The Reds use the set piece and open up the Brumbies defence. Cooper looks like he has a clear run to the line with McLinden but the pass goes straight to Mortlock who boots the ball to safety. McLinden comes off injured. Anthony Faingaa comes on. BUT WAIT. McLinden signals to Faingaa he can continue so he goes back on. Apparently the clock was stopped so Faingaa didnt actually go on.
61.00: George Smith tries a grubber kick , it gets behind the defence and there is a moment of confusion and suddenly Ashley Cooper finds himself open and 5m out so he runs in the try.
62.00: Mortlock again adds the conversion.
64.00: Will Genia comes off holding his ribs.
66.00: It's a war of attrition out there as players from both sides keep dropping out. This time Digby Ioane goes down injured and gets come attention. He stays on.
69.00: Sam Hardman is the next player to come off for the Reds.Saia Faingaa comes on which leaves the Reds bench looking pretty bare.
74.00: The Brumbies suddenly seem aware that their points differential is bad so they work through the phases and then Stephen Hoiles finds himself open so that he can score his second try.
75.00: Stirling Mortlock takes the conversion and curls it in for a 100% kicking record.
78.00: It's not over yet folks as Ashley Cooper passes to Francis Fainifo on the half way line and flies off to score under the posts.
79.00: Stirling Mortlock again adds the conversion.
80.10: The Hooter goes for full time. Thats it.
Full report to follow.
