reggie corigan announces his international retirement.
reland prop Reggie Corrigan has retired from international rugby.

Corrigan's decision comes a day after Ulster fly-half David Humphreys also said he was ending his Irish career.

Like Humphreys, Corrigan, 35, will continue to play club rugby and will stay with Leinster for the remainder of this season and the 2006-07 campaign.

Corrigan made his first appearance against Canada in November 1997 with the last of his 47 caps coming against France in the 2006 RBS Six Nations.

He played for Ireland in the 1999 and 2003 World Cups and captained Ireland on two occasions against Tonga and Western Samoa in 2003.

"This is the right time for me to make this decision from a personal and professional point of view in advance of the World Cup," said Corrigan.

Right thing to do seeing as he can't last 80 minutes in any match, let alone an international.

What odds though on either making a comeback should something happen to O'Gara or Horan, Paris proved that Eddie doesn't have any faith in Best, although at least with Staunton there seem to be some improvements.

Did you see him on Sunday for Wasps? Very dodgy, wouldn't trust him to perform at international level, as he has struggled in the Guiness Prem for a couple of seasons now.

Staunton is a turnstile on defence, but has abit more of a ball in hand attack than O'Gara. He'll be a good back up due to the fact that he's getting regular club rugby and we have **** all else!

Well I did say improvements, which having said that he couldn't really be much worse than he was before he arrived in England.
