Right now.

"on the brink of something special"
"10 out of 11 wins" obviously ignoring non championship matches because who cares?

And ignoring everything else going on in wales . As an Englishman living in mid wales I know that my friends are pulling their hair out at the idiot roger Lewis who quite frankly has buried his head in the success of the national team and left everything else to wilt and die .

In 30 years he will be known as the man that destroyed rugby in the most passionate country in the world (for international games obviously) ;)

He didn't really say anything meaningful. One thing I found interesting was how he wants to contract player out of the academy. I am sure the regions would love to lose control of the players they have developed.

So basically the way it feels like is Regions will be forced to contract their guys from extremely young age or else face battle from national team. And also Wales will effectively be run like a club except they'll loan players to regions when they don't need them and borrow a few when international are on.

Just on this it was pointed out to me today - If Priestland Jone Warburton and few others are to become WRU players then is it possible the WRU could pile all these in to 1 regions and basically have as much of the national team playing together as possible

I presume academies there are like here. Munster academy is mostly funded by Supporters club and private funding. Very little by IRFU or Munster Rugby directly

The regions provide the vast majority of academy funding. Stop pretending you know about how Welsh rugby works.

Following last year’s report into the business
management of the Regions, the PRGB was established
to encourage and support the Regional ambitions. The
WRU will make available £6.6m to the four Regions in
the forthcoming year, fund the four academies (at a cost
of c.£0.6m)
and pass through all the monies from
participation in the ERC and RaboDirect competitions.
The future of the ERC competition continues to be
debated amongst its stakeholders.

You do realise that's a grant split between the 4 not funding them entirely? That's £150k per region, Ospreys pay £700k for the academy, an academy which has played a big role in the national team success that Roger Lewis goes on about over and over.

And we reiterate don't go on about welsh rugby Amiga when you quite clearly don't have a scooby doo

Just on this if the regions breakaway and new regions are set up what effect will this have on regions because I think all regions will heavily be dependent on academies for next 5-7 years definitely?
Will there be competition from new WRU regions if they start up but more so are the coaches WRU funded or have the regions got their own youth coaches?
