Right, as the Rugby Onslaught blog pops up on the home page of the Rugby Forum, I tend to keep an eye on it. From the recent articles about the Paul O'Connell red card and Mike Tindall proposing to Zara Phillips, I know that the majority of them are to be taken tongue in cheek (despite not being paticularly funny). But, I wasn't really happy with the recent article about Gareth Thomas.
You say that his team mates and family were 'disgusted' by the fact that he was going to play rugby league for the 'Catalan Dragons'. He went to play for the Crusaders not the Catalans, and I dont know whether it was a joke or not, but there was nothing but support for him when he went over to play Rugby League.
You also said he was 'dropped' for Wales, and was a 'peripheral' player for the Blues. Although (as far as I know) he never officially retired from International rugby, it was well known that the 2007 World Cup was going to be his last appearences for Wales. Also did you ever watch any of his games for the Blues? As a Blues fan I can say that he wasn't fantastic in ever game he played, majority he was just simply solid with plenty of fantastic performances. He had a very good 08-09 season for the Blues, scoring some fantastic tries and generally being a big part of their Heineken Cup games. Not exactly many 'peripheral players' get starting spots in a team that reaches the Heineken Cup semis? When he wasnt injured he was a big part of their 09-10 team too, before he moved to League obviously.

I don't really understand why you're trying to say that he's only gay for the publicity? You say you did some 'digging' and found that he was married (which was common knowledge anyway) which means (according to you) to you that there's no proof he was gay. Really don't see what your problem is that he's gone on to chat shows to talk about his experiences, which he should be commended for. It wasn't exactly 'out of blue' that he was gay either, there'd been plenty of rumours in Wales that he was gay. In fact, it didnt come as a suprise to me when he came out, as I'd heard a while before that he was gay. Never changed my opinion of him at all. Still a Welsh legend, who is continuing a fantastic career in Union into Rugby League, and getting a decent amount of success by helping Crusaders to the Super League play offs and captaining Wales to victory against France and to qualification to the 4 Nations.
I have no idea if the whole article was a joke or not (wasn't funny at all if it was) but either way I don't see the point at all really.

Why pay attention to him?

He's yet to do a tongue in cheek article about Leinster or any of their players. Plenty of material there like. He's a WUM. A WUM with a blog.

meh, just didnt like it, thought I'd say something about it. If he's a WUM though, why's his stuff getting put up on the home page?

Hi there, just seen this now. I didn't mean to cause offence about Gareth Thomas, was a great player in his time and I'm a big fan.

Saying that I think he did go to League while his star was in decline, I don't think that can be debated. My blog is not WUMMING, although the odd time with Munster! That said, I have done **** takes about Leinster players.

Plenty of people don't like my blog, no issue with that. I would say however that it is a pisstake and except where stated, is not meant to be taken seriously!

I've always found the blog to be absolutely hilarious, it is a regular stop of mine on my rugby internet tours.
